giving out free COEs will not work, there are more than 1 million households in sgp, prob 80% will qualify by your criteria, that puts more cars on the roads than there are now.
What benefits? On the contrary, the main drivers of ever rising COE are not only the Msians PR. They are the brits, scandi, indons PRs! On top of that, ass the local businessmen who likes to hoard 5 cars at their home!!!!
If foreigners and PRs are treated badly, they'll simply head to some other country where they are more welcome and that will be the end of Singapore.

Yes but the cabinet requires only a handful of sinkies. As it is there are some who are bit lacking. There simply aren't enough talented sinkies to run the whole show.
Who wants the foreigners here? Lots of them use sinkapore as a stepping stone ...this is NEVER their final destination. They are making hay here while the sun is shining.
These foreigners are here because sinkapore is the easiest place on this earth to get PR or to work. No other countries have such lax control of foreigners, not even HK, the bastion of free market.
Without foreigners, life in sinkapore would have been much better. We would have been living first world standard of living. The flooding of foreigners has reduce standard of living to second world and descending to third world.
There are sufficient talent, it is just that they are not with the PAP.
85% of sinkies have foreign roots so what makes the current bunch of foreigners any worse than the original bunch who were of peasant stock from South China and India.

Many rich PRs are holding on to their maternal country so as to return when things turn bad here. They are enjoying the best of both worlds so we must force them to feel the pain of remaining as a PR!
There's nothing stopping Singaporeans from enjoying the best of two worlds. All it takes is a bit of effort which proves my point that the majority are simply lazy and unmotivated and can't be bothered to improve their lives.

The long term is an overuse excuse being used by the PAP. I am sickened by that phrase. We toil and serve the country - giving 30 months of our precious life to the country - and then we get shafted by the PAP with its open door policy to every Kumars, Zhongs, Lis, Tom, Dick and Harry which made our life more stressful and diminished our ability to earn a good wage in OUR country. How has this 'foreign raping of our country' benefit us? NOT at ALL. So much of our consumption capacity is being sucked out of the country through remittance by these foreigners. In desperation, the government has to open up casinos to get more foreigners to come. And casinos bring along its own set of problems.
We had enough of the long term plan offered by the PAP.
Come of it ...if everyone is that bloody smart, then there won't be paupers in the world. Just because a person is not smart enough, it does not mean he has no right to a decent life!
They must be hiding really well because they're pretty much invisible. They aren't with any other political party, they don't have their own companies and they certainly have not done anything of significance.
