KUALA LUMPUR: Senior Deputy Public Prosecutor Datuk Seri Gopal Sri Ram is now currently warded in the intensive care unit (ICU) of a private hospital here.

It was believed that Sri Ram is seeking treatment for his lung condition.

The 79-year-old former federal court judge is now the lead prosecutor in 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) corruption trial involving former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

He is also the leading prosecutor for Najib's wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor's corruption trials involving solar hybrid project for 369 rural schools in Sarawak and money laundering amounting to RM7 million.

"Yes. He is now at the intensive care unit (ICU)," said the source via Whatsapp, declining to comment further.
