Is Aljunied MP and Secretary-General of the Workers Party Low Thia Kiang making use of his political status to promote his own business interests?

According to a tip-off we received from someone who had business dealings with Mr Low, he seems to leverage on his political status to boost his own business.

“The things that politicians will do for fame, power or reputation are amusing and hilarious. MP for Hougang and Secretary-General of Workers’ Party, Mr Low Thia Kiang leverages on his political status to boost his own business. He uses this unscrupulous tactic so as to have an upper hand in the face of competitors. Just take a look at the name card and you will be slapped with right-in-your-face, hard sell marketing,” our informant who wishes to remain anonymous wrote.

He added that he is disappointed with Mr Low’s ‘marketing’ tactics:

“As a politician who claimed to be from a prestigious alternative party to the ruling party, Mr Low should have exercised more tact in political marketing and should not have monopolised on good samaritan acts to increase his business revenue. Call it unethical or not, this is definitely not the way to make money, and especially not a palatable way to attract customers or clients.”

I don't see anything wrong with this.

Declaring who he is on his name card is better than not declaring. If it is the honorable truth, there is nothing you need to hide.

The above applies only if the MP is not a PAP member, right?

I also find nothing wrong. Furthermore there is more important matters to deal with rather than this petty little thing

PAP MP will never do that. This is child's play for PAP MP. Let me give you some examples of what PAP MP does:

1) Invest in dunno simi IT firm, sell solutions through stat board through his connections - guess who?
2) Hotshot at top legal firms. If you are in any mega corporate dispute look for this guy - sure win... court wouldn't dare to offend him
3) If you want to set up a MLM company, look for this company to draft your M&A - sure ok one, otherwise you might be infringing the law for carrying out pyramid sales
4) If you are a foreign company looking to set up business in Singapore and approach the Singapore's trade office overseas, they will pass you a list of legal firms who can assist you. Conincidentally one particular legal firm gets chosen most of the time, this is through my personal experience.
5) Architects. If you need building plan approval for big projects, make sure you go for this particular firm to ensure no hickup... this is valid at least up till the point he asked for national asset listing.
6) Relatives of MPs somehow get landed with big jobs at GLCs wit fat pay packages. People are so used to it that it is accepted as ok.

Now compare the above to namecards with MP designation at the back. You be the judge.

As for RonRon the old fart with one leg in coffin... :oIo:

Not just this guy. I believe almost every politician (in any country) will do so when there is an opportunity to line their pockets using their political influence. That is why I detest all politicians. If one wants to serve the public, just do it - no need to become a politician (and pretend) to.

Cheers!

Those living in glass houses should never throw stones.

The PAP folks don't use their political status to advance personal business interests? Really?

The rabbit hole goes very deep.
