SINGAPORE: Law Minister K Shanmugam discussed views on the gay community with the leaders of LoveSingapore - a network of churches - recently.

Mr Shanmugam said in a Facebook post on Monday that Pastor Lawrence Khong of Faith Community Baptist Church had written to him, asking for a meeting.

This followed a meeting with the women gay rights' group, Sayoni, in late November 2012.

Mr Shanmugam shared the comments posted on LoveSingapore's Facebook page by Mr Khong, who's the founder and chairman of LoveSingapore.

Mr Khong said they met on 15 February, which was Total Defence Day, to talk about "defending the moral future" of the nation.

He said the leaders came away inspired and enjoyed their conversation with the minister on a hot and emotional topic.

He added that they looked at the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender issue through different lenses and from many angles.

Mr Shanmugam stated that the position of the government on Section 377A is as set out by the Prime Minister in Parliament in 2007 - meaning it'll keep the law but not pro-actively enforce it.
