Those who truly understand and respect the Party above and apart from those obvious low-class dumb-brains who just suck cocks hoping to improve their insignificant heartland existences will stay put here.

The result is already understood for the Party will have the heavenly mandate to care for the people in the years to come.

me tooo.....lets see if sporns are really daft as said or sensible and courageous people

And if you two are feeling the heat from trying so hard to fool yourselves you have found paradise in an overseas country then just say so. Don't talk rubbish here about pretending to not want to come back using the Party victory as a poor and lame excuse.

You two obviously were too well taken care of here and you worthless brats realize you can't really survive in Australia despite after all, never mind the apparent race issues. Stop lying to yourselves already.

Actually, you have got your wishes. Singaporeans have delivered their protest votes.

Singapore politics is totally different from Australia where you have REAL alternative or shadow government.

Singapore's oppositions are totally inexperienced in running a government - just look at the mess Labor made under one-man show Kevin Rudd.

Moreover, in Singapore, all the infrastructures are owned by Lee family in some way, also an opposition in government will face hostile government bureaucrats.

Voters also have a lot of vested interest in doing business with a PAP govt.

Just be happy and stay in Australia, or whatever country you want to live - returning to Singapore at this stage will only bring frustration of living under the same old shit you thought you left behind.

*** The next time, PAP will try harder to take back their losses or LHL will lose face. I will be interested to see policy changes by PAP. But I doubt the leopard will change its spots much.

(If you have a chance, go on a cruise in Oporto, Portugal. Returning to Lisbon tomorrow  )

At this rate you need to wait for another 2 elections, that is assuming the swing is consistent each time till then. So by GE 2021 there should be at least half of the seats that could be taken by the opposition. However, seeing that there is only like 6 oppo MPs versus 71, we might have to wait longer then that. Maybe your children could benefit then.

I doubt so, PAP is not a static animal. They will "listen" more to the people initially. After they get the equilibrium right in "giving" just enough to the people on what they want, they will return to their greedy days.

I expect more propaganda to keep their voters happy.

Indeed, hence my assumption that the swing has to be consistent till then. I thought more seats could be obtained. Then again, it has to be realistic. Singapore, even with all the gripes in this forum shows is not that bad. Real change can only happen when you have really pissed off its people like in Libya, Egypt etc. Even in Malaysia, with all its discriminatory policy, the incumbent was returned to power.

About middle east/north africans being pissed off

1. In Singapore/Australia, 10% of income spent on food. In Egypt, up to 70% spent on food. And food prices are raising to record level.

2. Egypt/Libya/Yeman/Syria are still under martial laws or emergency laws.

I will be Morocco next week, and visiting Rick's cafe in Casablanca.
Hope no terrorists.

Indeed, as long as you can keep the mob reasonably happy they would return you to power. I think another factor is the older generation as well. Till the older generation are no longer in power/vote, change won't happen. In the next 10-20 years this would happen. Till then, business as usual I suppose. Damned, I hate having the idea of kate spade in parliament.

Yes, the new generation look at PAP differently, just as younger Egyptians spoke about changes when I was there.
Even the fortune tellers are telling us the same thing. By the way, Yesterday is a good day for PAP to conduct General Election

I have a Beijinger travelling with me in a group. She says that young Beijingers are totally different from the old birds runnning China. I expect political changes there as well.

We live in Interesting time, Ash007.

China would take an even longer time to change. Large population carries with it inertia. Till the majority has the same idea as you do about the change it won't happen. Till the 100th monkey start doing the same thing, change won't arrive.
