CITY Harvest churchgoers rallied around their leaders a day after news that Pastor Kong Hee and 16 other church members were being investigated for allegedly misusing church funds.

Followers said they were praying and confident that the church of 33,000 worshippers would ride out the storm. A group pledging support has been set up on Facebook.

While we should not pre-judge Kong Hee and other CHC leaders, it must be clear that CAD will not prosecute them if there's no evidence of wrongdings. Whether they'll be convicted is another thing and they deserve the opportunity to defend themselves in our courts of laws. It should also be clear that this is not a persecution of CHC or the church in general.

But based on what is reported so far, anyone with an ounce of rational thinking will not jump into Kong Hee or CHC's defence unquestioningly. Christians are not blind unthinking worshippers.
