Heading to Changi Village on Nicoll Drive..... near Telok Paku?

My guess is this narrow road is the road outside of Selarang Camp leading all the way to Changi Village.. That stretch of road is still in use till now.. Only that part of Changi has narrow roads identical to this pic.. Bus No 2 and 29 are the only buses that go through that route..

Another fond memory for me personally is the old Clifford Pier..When I started working in the early 2000s, we used to alight from a boat taxi there each time we came back from our offshore job trips.. Blew my first pay on a 2nd hand Dunhill lighter that was sold at a Mama shop in Change Alley..

Seeing the backdrop of Oberoi Imperial reminds me of those CLubbing days at the EL Morocco Discotheque..

And the Indian restaurant RANG MAHAL.
They also had the first restaurant specialising in snails, appropriately named E'CARGOTS.[/QUOTE]

had my first taste of fondue there too.

That black car to the right of the photo is not an original Mini; it is the Morris Minor, made in UK. Mini did not exist in that era which became famous after the film "Italian Job" starring Steve McQueen was shown in 1970s.

the mini mark i went into production in 1959. it was also called the austin mini and the morris mini-minor. the morris minor was a much bigger car with a rounder top. you can still see many of their replicates in india today.

The car I'm referring to is the one behind the motorbike.

The small shops on the over head bridge is all gone & sure bring back memories, used to eye the Russian dolls they sells, you know the ones you open, & the dolls from bigger they get to the smallest; back them, I consider them too expensive. Every now & then, the Russian sailors & others would sell their hand made wooden model ships & other hand works & the shop owners will display them....they sell for $25-$50 back then.....expensive!!

The small shops were a treasure hunt...they have all sorts of things pertaining to the SAILING...semaphore flags, maps, compass, hurricane lamps, ship bells, etc.. & then one would go to change alley the opposite side , another 'wonderland' back then. I used to buy my perfume cheap from a mama shop there, back then...."Paco Robane"...cheaper than Robinson's, Metro & C.K. Tang...memories..

Sigh... They totally changed the whole place now.. Bought few Zippos from the Mama shop there as well.. One of the shops at the old Change Alley now relocated at Golden Landmark..

Got great Fried Kway Teow at coffee shop next to Odeon .....
The famous beef noodles morphed from side road, to opposite Odeon. 30 mins waiting time SOP. Next got into Scott's food court (was it the 1st food court?).

Other thing on Odeon, was this unique car park 'shift' -previous slot's clearing up for the next.
