Christmas was never the birthday of the FICTIONAL Jesus.........

This "Pagan" winter-solstice festival was adopted into Christianity only in the third to fourth centuries after Christ's alleged advent. However, there are indications that this solar "birthday" of Jesus was already in the minds of the creators of Christianity long before that time

"Christmas" represents the very ancient observation of the winter solstice, when the sun "dies" and is "reborn" or "resurrected," as the daylight hours decrease to their shortest point and then begin to increase again.

It has been observed most notably on December 21st or 22nd in the northern hemisphere. However, over the past several thousand years the winter solstice has been celebrated from the middle or end of November to the middle of January.

The symbolism in many of these instances is clear: Mourning the decrease and celebrating the increase of the sun's life-giving light and heat.

"Christmas," which occurs on December 25th, the transition from "Christmas Eve" on the 24th. This represents the period or triduum observed by the ancients as the sun's "death" and entrance into the underworld, after which "he" is resurrected or reborn into the world.

Commonsense says there's no snow in Bethlehem, whether Arpril or December. Christmas, Santa Claus and reindeers is a fairy tale invented by Scandinavians when they converted to Christianity. Note that the world's greatest fairy tale writer was also a Scandinavian by the name of Hans Christian Andersen.

Dec 25 is the accepted day to acknowledge the birth of Jesus by Western Christians since the Nicene Creed. For others it the official day for year-end merry-making and festivities. For Eastern Christians, the day is January 7. Also wrong I think.

The date, and character of Jesus is accepted also to be fictional by modern Christians. In his book The Pagan Christ, Tom Harpur (Canada's most outspoken theologian) describes the story of Christ as based on an earlier Egyptian story, approx. two thousand years before the time of our current Christ. However, whether true or not is not relevant anymore for the greatest story every told. The character has influenced the formation of present day nations, thought and philosophy, and has been an inspiration for great people.

Cheers!

I think by now with internet research most neutral people with some strong common sense will know that the NEW TESTAMENT is riddled with lies and misquotes from the old testament.

Even if jesus is real, his prophecy never came true. AKAN DATANG is not counted in god's standard and so should we not as it is common sense to not believe what people say but what we can see.

Agree. People should not confuse a person's existence with the day he is celebrated.

I suggest you do further research to find a few puzzle pieces to see they point to the same conclusion. A good point to start is on emperor constantine and council of nicea.

Far easier to believe Jesus existed than to invoke a conspiracy to invent a Jesus with the full works as we have now. But abysmally ignorant village atheist is also abysmally delusional.

But abysmally ignorant village atheist chooses to abysmally ignore that Christians who choose to celebrate 25 Dec as Christ's birthday are not celebrating anything remotely pagan. There is nothing pagan about Christ's first coming. We are worshipping the Son, not the sun. But abysmally ignorant village atheist just absymally ignores the fact. He also ignores the fact that Christians are just taking back the day for the Son instead of for the sun. Everyday belongs to God who made the universe. You should learn to accept the facts. But shooting with blanks is what abysmally ignorant village atheist is doing. Loud noise only.
