'Chi' not enough

Went to consult a TCM doc today for the first time in my life for a one week cough problem. He said the following:

1 'Chi' is not enough;
2 'Wei' is full of wind and not well;
3 Asked him 'chi', 'wei' and my cough what connection? and he was reluctant to comment. Just said eat my medicine and when your 'wei' is all right then 'chi' will be ok.
4 Tried to ask him, if 'chi' is not enough, then is it a problem of nutrition, if so, what to eat to improve the 'chi'?. Again, he was reluctant to comment and just said try 'bao sheng'.

My questions, which I hope some knowledgeable brothers can assist me to answer:

1 What is 'chi' not enough?
2 In non TCM terms, if 'chi' not enough, what essential vitamins or minerals do I lack?
3 If 'chi' is not enough, it may not just be a current issue. After the medicine eaten, what else can I eat to improve 'chi' and make myself better?
4 Any thing else I can do to improve 'chi', for example, exercises? or avoiding some food? or what?

Thanks and cheers.
