The Ministry of Education has refused to recognize the degrees of Singaporeans who studied long distance with foreign reputable universities like Cambridge, Oxford etc. Any teacher who holds such a degree will only be paid only A level salary. However, now they are employing teachers from China, India and other third world countries, paying them graduate salaries. Whether their degrees are fake or not is another matter.

According to my source, these 3rd world teachers have poor work attitude, horrible pronunciations and have difficulty interacting with their colleagues. However, they, especially the ahnehs flourish well.

Teaching certificates obtained via distance learning are frowned upon in the US, UK, Germany, France, etc..

However, now they are employing teachers from China, India and other third world countries, paying them graduate salaries.

I totally support MOE's judgment on this. A bachelor degree from the University of Mumbai is definitely worth more than one from NUS or NTU.
