Osasuna climbed off the bottom of La Liga courtesy of a 0-0 draw away to Real Sociedad on Friday.
The visitors from Pamplona almost took the lead within 60 seconds of kick-off at Estadio Anoeta, Nano connecting with a corner and forcing Sociedad goalkeeper Claudio Bravo into action.
Diego Ifran went close for the hosts in the 11th minute, heading a Carlos Vela delivery over the crossbar.
Sociedad threatened again shortly before half-time, with Antoine Griezmann sending a shot just wide of the upright.
Vela acted as provider for Ifran just after the hour-mark, but the Uruguay forward failed to hit the target with another header.
On 85 minutes Sociedad briefly appeared to have won it, when Griezmann put the ball in the back of the net, only for the strike to be correctly ruled out for offside.
The result sees Osasuna go 19th at the expense of Espanyol, who are at home to Getafe on Sunday.
Sociedad meanwhile are ninth, two points outside the Europa League qualification places.

Spain boss Vicente Del Bosque has defended Real Madrid's youth system and says all Primera Division clubs have contributed to La Roja's recent success.
Sections of the media have criticised Los Blancos' decision to spend vast sums of money on transfer fees rather than give youngsters the opportunity to prove their credentials in the first team.
But Del Bosque - who has enjoyed three spells at the Santiago Bernabeu during his career - does not believe that is the case and gave the club his backing.
“I think Madrid have worked very well with their cantera,” he told Zoom News.
“And I’m not speaking in the past tense, all Spanish clubs have, and the clearest evidence is that Spain are world champions and the guys in our team have come out of a cantera, not from foreign clubs.”

Johan Cruyff says 4-3-3 is the most effective system in modern football and has given his backing to Barcelona's attacking philosophy.
The 65-year-old launched his new book - Football: My Philosophy on Friday and revealed how his own tactical ideologies are very much in line with those of his former club.
"Some people have different ideas about how they like to play football, but I prefer three forwards, with a striker that is always facing the goal," he told Marca.com.
The Blaugrana legend then gave his opinion on the club's campaign so far, and though Tito Vilanova's side have appeared vulnerable in defence, Cruyff had nothing but praise for their commitment to an offensive approach.
"Barcelona are scoring many goals and that's because everyone is doing their job properly," he added.
"There is competition for places in attack as well and when you see David Villa, Cristian Tello and Pedro competing for a place, that can create friction and yield even more."
Real Madrid have suffered yet another setback to their La Liga title defence after a shock 1-0 loss to Real Betis on Saturday.
Betis midfielder Benat put the home side ahead after 17 minutes and from there Pepe Mel's team held on against a lucklustre Real outfit, who saw a Karim Benzema strike wrongly ruled out for offside.
The result sees Jose Mourinho's men remain eight points behind leaders Barcelona but that gap could extend to as many as eleven as Tito Vilanova's side prepare to face Levante on Sunday.
Elsewhere, Malaga ended a five-game winless streak in all competitions by thumping Valencia 4-0 at Estadio La Rosaleda.
Francisco Portillo got the home side off to the perfect start after eight minutes before Javier Saviola, Roque Santa Cruz and Isco all scored in the final 15 minutes to seal the emphatic win.
Malaga now move into fourth place with 22 points while Valencia are stuck in ninth as their indifferent form in La Liga continues.
Rayo Vallecano left it late as they overcame Mallorca 2-0.
Leo Baptistao gave his side the lead with three minutes remaining and then set up Andrija Delibasic to seal the victory on the stroke of full time.
In the day's other fixture, Real Valladolid overcame lowly Granada 1-0.
Barcelona ensured they remain top of La Liga after a thumping 4-0 victory over Levante on Sunday.
The Catalan giants went into the match in second place on the table following Atletico Madrid's win over Sevilla earlier in the day and knew victory at the Estadio Ciudad de Valencia would not only send them back to the top of the table but also open up an 11-point gap over bitter rivals Real Madrid after their shock loss to Real Betis on Saturday.
After a scoreless first half, Tito Vilanova's men turned on the style in the second, with Lionel Messi scoring twice in four minutes just after the break to put his side two goals to the good.
From there the result was never in doubt with Andres Iniesta firing home from the edge of the area in the 57th minute before Cesc Fabregas completed the rout six minutes later.
Meanwhile, Atletico ensured they kept pace with Barcelona after they demolished a ten-man Sevilla side at the Estadio Vicente Calderon.
Colombian striker Radamel Falcao rattled home his 10th goal of the season from the penalty spot in the 22nd minute after Fazio was sent off for a foul in the area.
Sevilla defender Emir Spahic then gifted the home side a second goal with 40 minutes on the clock, putting the ball in his own net from a stinging Arda Turan cross.
Koke made the game safe four minutes later, with Miranda adding gloss to the win in second half stoppage time after tapping in another Turan pass.
Getafe condemned Espanyol to their third successive defeat as they beat the Barcelona-based side 2-0.
On-loan Real Madrid midfielder Pedro Leon put the away side ahead after 17 minutes, with Mane scoring in the 91st minute to seal the victory.
In the day's other game, Athletic Bilbao were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Deportivo La Coruna.
Celta Vigo climbed away from the La Liga relegation zone courtesy of a 1-0 win at Real Zaragoza on Monday.
Celta had to wait until the 83rd minute of the match at Estadio de la Romareda to bag all three points, Iago Aspas' goal securing a first away victory of the season for the promoted club.
Zaragoza made a fast start, striker Helder Postiga testing Celta goalkeeper Javi Varas from distance inside the first minute.
Postiga was restored to the starting line-up after being dropped for the trip to Barcelona last week.
But he failed to threaten again in the opening exchanges, as Celta began to dominate.
Gustavo Cabral, Borja Oubina and Aspas all came close for the away team in the first half, before the action ramped up after the break.
Zaragoza's Victor Rodriguez forced Varas into action, before Postiga directed an attempt straight at the goalkeeper.
Once again, the momentum shifted back in Celta's favour, Cabral and Bermejo testing Zaragoza goalkeeper Roberto Jimenez.
Aspas was the next man to go close, his shot parried clear by Jimenez with 20 minute remaining.
As the clock began to tick down, the breakthrough finally arrived, Roberto Lago setting up Aspas to put Celta ahead.
Carlos Aranda and Glenn Loovens had half-chances to equalise for Zaragoza, but the visitors held firm.
The win, their fourth of the season but first in six matches, sees them climb to 15th, three points clear of the drop zone in a congested bottom third of the Spanish championship.

Jose Mourinho and Maicon have been caught on camera mocking Rafa Benitez and his move to Chelsea.
The pair - who worked alongside one another when the Portuguese was in charge of Inter - spoke in the aftermath of Real Madrid's 1-1 draw with Manchester City.
Mourinho and Benitez had a stormy relationship when the Blancos boss was at Chelsea and the Spaniard in charge of Liverpool.
And after Wednesday's Champions League encounter Mourinho was informed of the breaking news at Stamford Bridge and shared a joke with Maicon regarding the move.
"Your friend Benitez is going to Chelsea," the Brazilian said to Mourinho, according to La Sexta.
The 49-year-old responded: "The fat one? Well then Materazzi should be his assistant."
Materazzi had previously revealed how Benitez made him tear down newspaper cuttings from his locker of victories with Mourinho and Marcello Lippi when The Blues' interim coach joined Inter in 2010.
The Madrid derby headlines this weekend's La Liga action, and there is much more at stake than local bragging rights.

Barcelona crushed Athletic Bilbao 5-1 at Camp Nou on Saturday to continue their undefeated start to the La Liga season.
The win marked the best ever start to a La Liga season of any side in the Spanish top-flight's 113-year history and also saw Lionel Messi close within a goal of Gerd Muller's 85-goal record in a calendar year following another brace.
The marker was set from the 23rd minute, when Gerard Pique poked home the opener, before Messi and Adriano also struck to send Barca into a deserved three-goal lead at half-time.
Cesc Fabregas added a fourth shortly before the hour mark and despite a consolation effort from Ibai Gomez, Messi scored again with 20 minutes remaining to put the finishing touches on the win.
With Real Madrid trailing the league leaders by a mammoth 17 points before kick-off, the pressure was on Jose Mourinho's side to deliver in the derby against second-placed Atletico Madrid.
And so they did, Real producing a clinical performance to emerge 2-0 victors at the Bernabeu, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Mesut Oezil on target.
Mourinho gave fans the opportunity to boo him on the pitch 40 minutes before kick-off, but was greeted positively despite his brazen ploy.
And it did not take long for his side to take the lead in the match, as Ronaldo slotted home a rasping free-kick in the 16th minute.

Valladolid winger Patrick Ebert got his name on the scoresheet in just the second minute when he met an Oscar assist with a left-footed strike from the centre of the penalty box that ended up in the bottom left corner of the net.
Ten minutes later, the pair switched roles as Ebert turned provider for Oscar whose right-footed shot proved too good for Sevilla custodian Diego Lopez as Valladolid headed into the half-time break up 2-0.
The hosts pegged one back in the 50th minute when they were the beneficiary of a Manucho own goal but that's as close as they would get as Valladolid held on for the win.
The result saw Valladolid (21 points) climb to seventh on the table to be just a point behind Malaga (22) and Getafe (22).
Sevilla (18), meanwhile, stay 11th and will travel to Espanyol on Friday in their next league fixture.
Valladolid will be aiming to make it three La Liga wins in a row when they host heavyweights Real Madrid on Saturday.

Valencia have appointed Ernesto Valverde as their new first-team coach.
The 48-year-old, who guided Olympiakos to the Greek championship title earlier this year, will replace Mauricio Pellegrino at the helm of the Liga outfit until the end of the season, after the Argentine was sacked over the weekend.
A statement on the club's official website confirmed the news: "Valencia have reached an agreement with Ernesto Valverde to be the coach of the first-team until June 30, 2013.
Valverde will be officially presented as the new coach of Valencia CF this Monday, December 3."
The former Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao defender, who earned a cap for Spain in 1990, has also served in coaching roles at Espanol and Villarreal.
He will take charge of los Che for the first time in their Champions League clash with Lille OSC this coming Wednesday.
The former Madrid supremo is not impressed with the way the president is running the club, and feels their coach is the one calling the shots at the Santiago Bernabeu

Florentino Perez - Real Madrid
Former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon feels that coach Jose Mourinho is running the show at the current, with current supremo Florentino Perez having to play second fiddle to the Portuguese coach.
The trainer was at the centre of attention ahead of this weekend's 2-0 derby win over Atletico, entering the pitch 40 minutes before kick-off to let the fans jeer him, and the 61-year-old feels the former Chelsea manager is only thinking about himself.
"The only winner of that action was Mourinho. But the president knew what to expect when he brought him to Madrid. He has already shown at his previous clubs that he thinks about himself first," he told La Xarxa.
"Mourinho has not fooled anyone. It's not his fault that he was brought in and given all the power at the club.
"Perez is Mourinho's puppet. He is not in control of anything and has no interest in showing that he is actually the boss at Madrid. He has given the coach all the power."
A number of recent reports suggested that Mourinho could leave Madrid at the end of the season, but the 49-year-old stressed on Monday that he has no intention of doing so.
On some level, it's nice to think that, when all is said and done, after years of institutional change, coaching shifts, player movement and general upheaval, Real Madrid is still made up of the same dysfunctional leadership that characterized much of its' years in the 21st century.
Say what you will about Real Madrid under Florentino Pérez (and there really is a lot to say), but one set of words that won't cross your lips are "boring" or any variant thereof. A fantastic businessman, Pérez is a perfectionist with a deep-seated sense that if Madrid isn't playing better than every other team all the time always forever then there's something horribly wrong with the world.
This has lead him to some memorable catastrophes--including, I think, the firing of highly-lauded coach Vicente del Bosque in 2003 (after he won the Liga). I'm not sure if that's what's in the making in the current leadership meltdown--I try hard not to believe anything that is reported in the gossip rag tabloids that give journalism a bad name (you know who you are, and yes, you really do suck that much). But if there's any truth in the stories that have been pouring out of the Bernabéu in recent days, then Madrid is clearly back to being "the crisis club" (a phrase that I use to describe the way that the press and the leadership tended to react whenever anything went wrong in the mid-aughts).
I find some comfort in all of this. With the European economy perched on the brink of collapse, with the future of Spanish football in doubt due to monetary troubles, and with all the other myriad of problems causing uncertainty throughout the world, in some way it's nice to know that, at least in a few offices overlooking the Castellana, it's still the same old story.

Don't look now but Valencia is in 12th place. They've been a weird team all season, and I really don't know what to make of them--which is pretty much par for the course with this squad. I don't imagine they'll stay in 12th; but I'm also not sure they're going to be able to run all the way up to Champions League consideration again.

Levante vs. Mallorca

Mallorca are staring at the wrong side of the relegation battle right now, and I don't see much hope in sight unless they can begin to string things together. Don't get me wrong--they're not going down. I just mean they won't be anywhere near the top half of the table this season.

Athletic Bilbao vs. Celta Vigo

The fact that, conceivably, Athletic Bilbao could drop into the relegation zone with a loss combined with a couple well-placed wins shows us just how far they've fallen. Yes, I imagine they'll charge back to avoid a relegation battle; no, they are no longer a real factor this season.

Atletico Madrid vs. Deportivo

Ex-Colombia international Rene Higuita believes that Victor Valdes, Petr Cech and Iker Casillas are the best three goalkeepers in the world.
The flamboyant former keeper was renowned for his famous 'scorpio-kick' and was also christened 'El Loco' or madman in tribute to his risky style of play.
The 46-year-old still keeps a close eye on the men between the posts and gave his backing to a trio of star names as the game's best goalkeepers.
"Iker Casillas of Real Madrid, Víctor Valdes of Barcelona and Petr Cech of Chelsea are the best three goalkeepers in the world for me," he was quoted as saying by the Times of India.
Higuita also briefly discussed the rivalry between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, but refused to comment on who he thinks is the better player of the two.
"Technically both are very sound footballers and I would love to have both of them in my team," he added.
Higuita currently works as goalkeeping coach at Al Nassr.
