SINGAPORE | Thu Dec 29, 2011 4:38am EST

SINGAPORE Dec 29 (Reuters) - Singapore's Neptune Orient Lines, which owns the world's sixth biggest container shipping firm, said its chairman, Cheng Wai Keung, will retire after the board's annual general meeting in April 2012.
Cheng, who was chairman for the last 10 years, will be replaced by Kwa Chong Seng who will join the board as a director from January 1, 2012 and become chairman in April, the company said in a statement.
Kwa is the deputy chairman of the board of directors of state investor Temasek Holdings and is a former chairman and managing director of ExxonMobil Asia Pacific Private Ltd before retiring in October 2011.
Temasek owns about two-third of NOL. (Reporting by Saeed Azhar)

He is the brother of Kwa Chong Teck, who is the son of Kwa Soon Bee. All related to the late Kwa Geok Choo.

would be nice if someone drew a family tree, then replace those names by the positions they hold :p:p:p

This is why the concept of genes as the dominant factor in the whole meritocracy system of things is so critical. Without it, a lot of things cannot be explained.

It all started with this man:

U21.png

Kwa Siew Tee, one of the founders of OCBC, and father of Kwa Geok Choo.

My theory is that LKY would not have got anywhere had Kwa Geok Choo been from a poor family. He would have remained as a small-time lawyer.

Marriage has always been the best form of political-economic alliance since the earliest recorded history of man. Love and romance were never part of the equation. Nice to have, certainly, but optional.

Quite true "... Marriage has always been the best form of political-economic alliance since the earliest recorded history of man..."

A lot of today's movers and shakers seems to go back generations, alot of family ties between Singapore and Malaysia...

Lee Suet Ling the CNA news presenter also the sister of Lee Suet Fern...there were nasty arrogant girls when they were in methodist girls. Lee Suet Fern not well like in the law faternity. Their father is the famous local economist.

Ho Sing is now in charge of Starhill REIT listed on SGX. Starhill is Msian owned by YTL.

Teo Chee Hean, Tony Tan all from OCBC founders.

But I think LKY doesn't give a fuck about extended family ties...as long as you are a good pappy dog.

Heng Chee How is married to Ho Pheng....Ho Ching's sister.....so he is LHL's brother in law
