SMRT not very smart. They should just make the salary of all foreign driver the same. Increase the salary based on allowance. They can give language allowance, so more language, more pay. Then the Ah Tiong all will keep quiet. Service will also improve in a way.

Bro Malaysians driver can speak chinese, hokkien, canto and malayu as for ah tiongs only chinese:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

Even our 154th media seems to be very silent on this matter. Strike started this morning and now almost 5pm still no such news reported on their websites, either on CNA or Straits Times.

Another Fucking retard. The incident was reported in the Chinese News Paper which belongs to SPH. Same company

So you are traitor. You want our Singaporeans to be unemployed and not paid singapore wages. Guards. take him up to shoot. Do not spare on the 25Cent bullets!

Fucking retarded moronic opposition supporting Nincompoop who doesn't have any common sense. Right now the Tiongs are lower paid than locals. If the company is forced to increase the Tiong's pay to the same pay as locals, and the company needs to pay worker's levy on top of that. Do U think SMRT will hire Tiongs first or locals first. Please start using your pathetic little brain to think before U talk

SINGAPORE: Public transport provider SMRT said that it is in talks with its bus drivers who refused to go to work on Monday.

A spokesman for SMRT said 102 of the bus drivers involved were from China and their service leaders are currently in talks with SMRT management.

SMRT said earlier reports that nearly 200 bus drivers were involved were incorrect.

Channel NewsAsia understands that the bus drivers had stayed away from work as a result of unhappiness over their pay.

SMRT added that the relevant authorities have already been informed about the situation.

How long can singapore employers/bosses depend on cheap labour so that the CEO and senior management can draw multi-million dollars salaries ?
Now the 200 SMRT drivers on strike, what can the fake NTUC chief Zorro Lim do and what will he say ? Ang Chia on standby.Hope they don't activate the Mobilisation Recall for NSmen to load their arms and standby in the 3-tonners to break up the strike.

These chaps came in and took over our jobs with their eyes open. Don't tell me they only found out over the weekend that the reason they are being employed is because they are paid less than Malaysians. Freaking piece of bullshit.

If this was a bunch of Singaporeans, LKY cronies in the cabinet will be out in full force saying that workers must respect the rights of commuters and must know their place, that we are a peaceful country, that tripartism is the way to go, that this has always been how conflicts were resolved, etc etc etc etc etc and a whole bunch of crap.

Now this is a bunch of PRCs, lets see what they say. Lets see them fall back on their tripartite bullshit.

Incidents like these are considered national security issues. ISD and other agencies will be mobilised. The Govt will direct SBS what to do despite that it is public listed entity. It will

Taking care of PRC political leaders can be handled in numerous others way such as looking after their kids and giving them access to other areas. The PRC govt is also a master of quelling dissent so this is their favourite dish.

I will be surprised if their leaders are not packing. Obviously NTUC has failed to "look after" the PRC bus leaders like they do the locals. We got compliant unions members who play golf at Laguna, take time off from work all the time, free study trips, scholarships for their kids, conferences.

PRC drivers have nothing to fear

1) Singapore Gov dare not touch them as Chinese embassy will protect them. If Singapore gives trouble them they can easily go slow on the numerous projects our GLCs have in China. Just simply delay your building approval for 9 months and for some Real Estate developer (Capitaland) the window might be over.

First, we have ponding instead of flood. Now comes "refuse to go to work" instead of strike. WTF!

The reason they are trying to couch it as an ongoing negotiation is to avoid calling it a strike. A strike is against the law if it is done without following the proper such as engaging in negotiation, arbitration, serving notice etc. All of them can be arrested and charged in court. If they have to bring out the knuckledusters, they will do it quietly, while the negotiations are on-going.

As expected. SBS/SMRT breaking MOM labor law.
Now MOM must come out clarify salary increase $75/month but need to work 1 day extra/week should be about $100/day if calculated as OT.
I not siding the PRC but law is law . Now company break law. If we side company next time if your company do the same what happen. So must make it clear cut no company should break MOM law.

MOM law stated working hour more than 44hr/week consider OT. Those basic salary less than $2k protected under MOM law. Very clear cut. So how can company increase $75pay/month asking worker to work extra 1 day/week.
So I siding PRC driver. So worker in SG will not be slave to company. Now hope that cleaner/security all come out to protest.

It doesnt look like they want to bring out the knucklebusters unless the drivers threw the first stone. The men and equipment to do so has been brought out to play, only the political will to do so is sorely lacking.

Once again our island state is safe from anarchy and implosion thanks to our devoted security apparatus and our wise leaders who knows how to defuse a bomb by kowtowing to it

Certain industries, eg. security guard agencies, are exempted. Not sure if public transport is one of these.

Actually more than 200 is protest. From the photo is about 100person. Some might go toilet break/talk to management. At at least double the figure silence protest take MC. And at least half of the driver unhappy but carry on work. Is a ticking time bomb.
