A netizen from Zhejiang province in eastern China who posted photographs of air pollution caused by a local factory was kidnapped and assaulted by men who took photos of her naked and demanded that she take down the photos she had published online, according to Chinese media reports.
The woman, surnamed Qiu, who works in the city of Yuyao, took a photo of the factory after noticing excessive smoke emissions and posted the photo online accompanied by a short message suggesting that the factory might be damaging the environment.
A few days later, Qiu received a call from a delivery service and was abducted when she left work to pick up the parcel. She was blindfolded and taken to a nearby mountain, where her captors assaulted her despite her promise to delete the photos immediately.
One of the men warned her that she would be raped and she and her husband murdered if she ever dared to post photos again.
Qiu reported her abduction to the police. One of her abductors later turned himself in, and his accomplices were later apprehended.
