Youth seeking ?'unlicensed' donations assault man who question their authority.
Perhaps like in Greece and many other European countries where spending on effective education is low (due to debt crisis), Singaporean youth also have not developed deep purpose in life and would rather participate in illegal get rich quick schemes (illegal fund raising with high commission/90% commission like illegal / porn VCD selling).
Or is it that the police treat youth badly such that any mention of 'police' results in an unpredictably fiery reaction?
On second thought, seems like there is a resurgence in gang activity in singapore, otherwise, why would the youth ask " which gang he was from".
Perhaps poverty of good moral examples is getting the better of Singapore youth, perhaps the SG govt needs a rethink the education system in schools today.

A STOMPer says he was assaulted by a group of youths collecting $10 donations at Tampines Interchange on Nov 27.
According to the STOMPer, he had refused to donate, and later took pictures of them using his camera phone from some distance away.
He was then confronted by another youth who approached him from behind and told him to delete the pictures.
He replied that he would delete the pictures once the police arrived, and proceeded to call the police.
The youth then asked the STOMPer which gang he was from, to which he replied that he did not belong to any gang.
After this, the youth threatened to hit him, and the STOMPer was grabbed from behind shortly after. He was then punched and kicked by the guy who had confronted him.
During the scuffle, the STOMPer dropped his handphone, and the group of youths, comprising two guys and four girls, grabbed it and ran.
Ten minutes later, a Singtel promoter handed the phone back to the STOMPer, together with a note asking for an apology.
According to the promoter, a teenager had handed her the phone to return to him.
The photos on the phone had been deleted, and a sum of $300, which had been placed in a compartment with the phone, had gone missing.
The STOMPer says that he sustained bruises and other injuries as a result of the attack, and he reported the incident to the police.

I think this man was perfectly justified in taking the photographs as he obviously took them as evidence to show the police and help identify the suspects/beggers in case they ran.

Guess his 'mistake' was that he didn't know that they actually belonged to some 'gang' rather than just misguided kids... too bad he had to suffer for standing his ground but the good thing is that now that this has happened, the police will have double pressure to resolve this matter- 1) the gangland activity, 2) the swindle of innocent passers by.

Perhaps he could have just depended on the MRT camera footage to allow police to snag the suspects, perhaps he was afraid the police would acuse him of crying wolf/ not take his complaint seriously, whatever, he was unfortunate to be spotted by them (gang) trying to snap their photo which led to their confrontationm/ outburst.... anyhow, the delinquent youth, if caught, will have a double charge to answer to if proven, the first of their donation scheme!e was illegal or fraud, the second if caught on camera/ proven- a case of assault with hurt...

Aggravated Cheating - is punishable under the Singapore Penal Code Chapter 224, Section 420 with imprisonment for a term of up to 7 years, and the offender is also liable to fine. Imprisonment is mandatory.
