Channel 5 to telecast table tennis triumph tomorrow
<!-- by line --><!-- end by line -->
<!-- end left side bar --><!-- story content : start -->
I REFER to Wednesday's letter by Mr Huan Soo Hai, 'Table tennis: Why is the public still deprived of the full telecast of the momentous event on our free-to-air channels?'
MediaCorp congratulates our table tennis team on their spectacular 3-1 win over China at the recent World Team Table Tennis Championships held on Sunday in Moscow.
We are pleased to advise that the telecast rights for the World Team Table Tennis Championships have just been secured and Channel 5 will air the event in its entirety tomorrow at 3pm, with an encore telecast next Saturday at 9am. Live telecast rights were not made available for free-to-air.
Our extensive TV coverage of the SEA Games and Fina/Arena Swimming last year, and the recent AFC Asian Cup Qualifier series of matches featuring our Young Lions, emphasises MediaCorp's firm support for the sporting achievements of our Team Singapore athletes.
We will continue to present key competitive events and matches to our viewers, subject to broadcast rights considerations.
