"Yam cha" syndicate busted, RM50mil worth of drugs seized

KUALA LUMPUR: They posed as tea leaf merchants, selling high grade tea to countries like Australia and Indonesia.
But police were not fooled by the biggest drug syndicate in the country’s history during a raid at two rented houses in Cheras and Sungai Long on Monday, after six months of surveillance.
Police found the drugs, worth some RM50mil, including high grade heroin, packaged in packets of Chinese tea to fool the authorities. Four men and a woman were detained to assist in the investigations.
The total drugs seized - 209.96kg of Syabu, 40.47kg of heroin and 26.85kg of ecstasy pills.
