At 1800 hours on April 8, 2017, the British Maritime Trade Organization released a message that the Tuvalu OS35 merchant ship was occupied by pirates in the northwestern part of Socotra Island. After receiving the distress signal from the merchant ship, in order to rescue the crew on the hijacked cargo ship as soon as possible, the 25th escort formation of the Chinese Navy, which is carrying out its mission in the Gulf of Aden, immediately dispatched an urgent sea route to the incident.
