To be called to the bar, you NEED to be there physically. That is how you are called to the bar - you take your oath in person before a judge.
You said, "He is a solicitor, not a barrister". Again you are talking rubbish. In Singapore, there is a fused profession. It is impossible for a Singapore lawyer to be a solicitor only, and not a barrister (or "advocate", which is the correct Singapore term).
You can check the Singapore law society's website. Pritam Singh is not listed as a practitioner. You can even ask Pritam yourself, and he will tell you that what you are saying is complete garbage.

Pritam Singh is now called to the bar (no you need not be there physically) and the law society has accepted and certified him as a lawyer, so he is a solicitor and not a barrister. Thank you so much for telling us Pritam Singh is now a lawyer despite he not being at the ceremony.
I am sure in time to come, you will tell us more interesting such as Sylvia Lim actually had the capacity to bear children despite not married. I look forward to it
