Some of you must have seen or heard about the PM and Low exchange in parliament and his comment about WP keeping a low profile in parliament but turning about to be Lions and Heroes at Rallies.

Despite the embattled status of the PM, he was able to corner Low and and basically get him to say the things he wanted out of him. It was not a pretty exchange.

I think any sane person would understand the bunker mentality that WP will be in but is there a path that WP can take where it can address topical issues in Parliament and raise its profile.

It does not bode well when Ms Tin Pei Ling is asking for a higher returns for CPF funds. Something she did not bother during the last 3 years of her useless existence. I have no doubt that she is as opportunistic as the next PAP MP but this is also an opportunity for WP to take the PAP to task.

If WP feels that its MPs speeches selected or highlighted in the press are purposely done and thereby leaving out the good ones, maybe the internet is the way to go. Pritam's asking the new citizens to join Hen's Volunteer army is a waste of time for an Singaporeans. We know that it is easy way for new citizens to claim that they did NS of some sort.

hahaha...scroobal showing his slimey side in the guise of telling ltk to use internet which we all know ltk loathed to do so........
first he accused ltk of being dishonest and lying....
then he claimed wp is unable to form the govt for a long while yet.....
now he said that the so called useless gay loong walked all over LTK in the parliament exchange...
talking about reading between the lines.....u judged for yourself his true colour...

Not easy for WP to raise their profile and take on the ruling party on debating policies.
The ruling party got easy access to all the resources (ie economists, political science research fellow, statistics, historical data, intelligence etc) for their research.

Whereas WP has very limited access to information and their findings does not come easy due to so many obstacles to go overcome.
Hence WP often find it difficult to stand on firm ground. The playing field is not always level for them.
LTK's command of ingrish is not powderful, he now have to put up with all sorts of humiliations in the parliament waiting for the right moment to strike back.

Hmmm ... ... ... and Lim Chin Siong's Ingrish was powderful?

In other Parliaments, somehow it is different. Can even make the Prime Minister shake with fear ... ... ...

CSJ has been willing for what...15years???? has he found a way yet?

pls lah.... LTK maybe too cautious for the past 23 years to some of you ppl liking but he still standing inside parliment now wheras those who were inside the house with him in the past had fallen. Pick only battles that he got chance to win, no point trying to be kamikaze every time.

If you ask me why LTK always loses the debate with Ah Loong, cos LTK isn't really fully committed to the cause he was supposed to believe in, whole heartedly, the the welfare of ALL Singaporeans.

Ah Loong have this commitment but is misplaced and therefore his supposed policies, with supposed 'good intentions', don't pan out.

If you can make an Ah Loong who still have the same type of commitment and replaced all his misguided intentions, you have got it made. LoL

Actually, WP MP speeches are all on the web; in fact my beef is that this the only thing they put up. Whenever the media reports on their speeches in narrative form, I would double-check the facts with their speeches, although I don't really like to read technical text.

WP keeping a low profile in parliament but turning about to be Lions and Heroes at Rallies

all these linguistic cut and thrust may not be the forte of LTK, the rest of the team would have to step up in their performance in this verbal joust with the PAP. teamwork, we like to see teamwork :):):)

Why doesn't LTK speak in Mandarin during parliamentary debates?
Definitely more eloquent and articulate than the Cambridge grad.

I don't understand why people think that now it time to push the boundary when 60% score is pretty much a resounding victory by any democratic standard. Whether it 2 or 7 opposition MP, it doesn't hide the fact that we have a parliament with strong ruling party and very weak opposition. Trying to take on the ruling party head on is just asking for trouble. Let don't forget CSJ got his share of blunders during Parliamentary Select Committee on Health Care Subsidy many years back and I don't need to tell those fellows in SDP what happen after that. When you don't get your fact right, PAP could just latch on it and that the end of the story. All the handwork and credibility you are trying to build all these years could just go down the drain. If WP don't feel comfortable pushing for a issue either lack of info or experts from within, my advice is to wait for the appropriate moment when more people with the knowledge join in. It better to be late than never.

IF people dont want the WP then what? SDP and its Western agenda?

LTK is hampered by his command of the language and I don't think it would be easy for him to win a debate as such.
Would pinky or his lackeys dare to try him in mandarin? I think many people can understand.

Let's not forget that he has set the agenda that got pinky & co. all work up, once again!

Sadly thats the truth. If he needs unfettered access to economic data and intel, researchers etc speak up for gods sake. I never heard that yet.

If you cant speak english, wtf to say now....thats no excuse.
