Conducting courses is the easiest. Application of lessons has to be the hardest. Trust me, some of the ampais today just CMI. They are far too young for many duties entrusted to them. Similar to a young Sgt attending a case of family dispute whereby the subjects involved are old enough to father the young makan pau. Our ampais aren't trained to handle an imminent crisis or a real crisis situation.
For GE duties, it is best to DO NOTHING unless lives are endangered. Let me explain. Voters are screwed hard, front and back from past GE till current GE. They are a depressed, desperate and angry lot. Anyone get hurt if they use Hokkien expletives against PAP leaders? If they get a little aggressive? Nope. Best to allow then to let go their 5 years of anger, desperation etc without interruption.
GE takes place once in 5-6 years. It is always the last night's rally that such unruly incidents happened. If I call the shots, I will advice the ampais to let this category of people WIN for just one night in 5 years.

There was one beside me, all the way in the front. While the crowd was cheering loudly, he was looking damn blur and out of place. However so long as no trouble were caused, he was just there to observe. Quite polite too, he handed me the wanbao he borrowed from me earlier at the end of the rally.
i think he strongly wanted to cheer along with the rest for WP but is resisting the temptation. cut him some slack. he on duty no choice.
