Legal affairs of Donald Trump
For lawsuits arising out of his actions as president, see List of lawsuits involving Donald Trump.

An analysis by USA Today published in June 2016 found that over the previous three decades, Donald Trump and his businesses have been involved in 3,500 legal cases in U.S. federal courts and state court, an unprecedented number for a U.S. presidential candidate.[1] Of the 3,500 suits, Trump or one of his companies were plaintiffs in 1,900; defendants in 1,450; and bankruptcy, third party, or other in 150.[1] Trump was named in at least 169 suits in federal court.[2] Over 150 other cases were in the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida (covering Broward County, Florida) since 1983.[3] In the 1,300 cases where the record establishes the outcome, Trump settled 175 times, lost 38, won 450, and had another 137 cases end with some other outcome. In the other 500 cases, judges dismissed plaintiffs' claims against Trump.[1]
The topics of the legal cases include contract disputes, defamation claims, and allegations of sexual harassment. Trump's companies have been involved in more than 100 tax disputes, and on "at least three dozen" occasions the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance has obtained tax liens against Trump properties for nonpayment of taxes.[1] On a number of occasions, Trump has threatened legal action but did not ultimately follow through.[4]
Of Trump's involvement in the lawsuits, his lawyer Alan Garten said in 2015 that this was "a natural part of doing business in [the United States]",[4][5] and in the real estate industry, litigation to enforce contracts and resolve business disputes is indeed common.[4] Trump has, however, been involved in far more litigation than fellow real-estate magnates; the USA Today analysis in 2016 found that Trump had been involved in legal disputes more than Edward J. DeBartolo Jr., Donald Bren, Stephen M. Ross, Sam Zell, and Larry Silverstein combined.[1]
The Trump lawsuits[4][5] have attracted criticism from Trump's opponents, who say that this is not a trait that conservatives should support.[4] James Copland, director of legal policy at the conservative-leaning Manhattan Institute, states that "Trump clearly has an affinity for filing lawsuits, partly because he owns a lot of businesses" and has sometimes used litigation as a "bullying tactic".[4]
Although Trump has said that he "never" settles legal claims, Trump and his businesses have settled with plaintiffs in at least 100 cases (mostly involving personal injury claims arising from injuries at Trump properties), with settlements ranging as high as hundreds of thousands of U.S. dollars[1] and recently as high as tens of millions of dollars.[6]
Among the most well-known Trump legal cases was the Trump University litigation. Three legal actions were brought alleging fraud, one by the New York State attorney general and the others by class action plaintiffs.[7] In November 2016, Trump agreed to pay $25 million to settle the litigation.[6]

Uh Oh in about 100 hours or so a certain ex President might be in serious trouble. I wonder why ?:tongue::tongue:

Sadly for Trump, he could not gaslight his way back to the WH through the Courts....thought he could but found out to his horror that he couldn't...even after appointing 3 SCOTUS judges...lol...

More TRUMPTARDS rioting. Many have AR-15 Machine Gun to bang bang kill. MILLION MILITIA MARCH coming, must watch, must see. Good show.

He will continue to be a thorn in the side of the GOP for sure.

The Senate trail is very interesting. Do they vote to disqualify him from the future? Or will they cave into their fear of the "Trump Terrorists" and the ballot box 2022 and 2024?

Fascinating.

MSM need to keep on putting out the stuff which actually went on at the Capitol on the 6th...the more revelations the better...drip drop style to keep the momentum going...also shock and awe effect...

Just listening to some of those MAGA insurrections, clear as daylight they were of the mind that Trump has incited to attack the Capitol...worse still get Pence and Pelosi...now they are even asking Trump for a pardon!...another snippet 6th video I recently saw really made me LOL...bunch of mob MAGAs in the senate floor, looking at Ted Cruz's file and these stupid hillbillies saw the word "objection" and straight away thought Cruz was "objecting" to Trump and they yelled they were now going to get "turn coat" Cruz?!... Minute or two later another MAGA told these morons that Cruz was actually "objecting" to Biden, then they realised their stupid mistake!

It is backfiring, for sure. The splintering will continue. According to the latest info, Trump's hold on the GOP is decreasing, from 90% to 60%. Approval is the worst of any President, at the end. Cruz, Rubio, Scott, Hawley have all suffered from their attempts to play both sides. GOP fundraising cut. Hawley's book deal pulled.

everyday new video, new information, arrests are made. It will take some time. A Senate trial for impeachment has taken from a low of 23 days to 80 days, so it wont be quick. Apparently they are rounding up "Trump Terrorists" and asking them to testify in the Senate why they attacked the Capitol. "Because our President said so" Will not be a pretty sight :tongue::tongue:

Of course, just heard that Biden has 0 Cabinet Members confirmed when in past transitions Senators have confirmed the incoming Administration so the government does not interrupt, but the GOP Senators have refused to formally extend this courtesy to Biden.

GOP is just disgraceful. :whistling:

Guess it's Games of Thrones time now in the GOP...McConnell seems to be up to his trickery and shenanigans coming out against Trump but not to the fullest extent as yet...Trump himself does not appear totally confident that he shall not be convicted at the impeachment trial going by his final pardons list...appears that Trump really wanted to pardon Assange and Snowden...but senior GOP chaps like McConnell were adamantly against this...Trump gave in, which is totally against his nature because of his doubts over the impeachment trial support amongst GOP senators...time will reveal all...
Could not believe Cruz and Hawley has the audacity and gall to show up at Biden's inauguration though, especially after all that happened at the Capitol on the 6th...these guys are truly shameless and worse and more dangerous than Trump...because from their stellar law credentials, they should know better...very dangerous characters whose thirst for WH power know no boundaries...disgraceful and disgusting

I watched the inauguration and all i can say its about time we got the United States back to its roots, the leader of the world. The disgraced ex president will fade away but only to the extent of ramifications of his horrendous term in office, legal issues, and his ill fated attempted to gaslight America in 2024.

McConnel I believe has signaled he will corral GOP votes to protect the party, rebuild it and hold the forces that still hold out for #45 at a minimum. Time will tell exactly how much support is still there, but I suspect at this point there is ALOT LESS numbers, but still enough for the lin woods to still ensure another Democratic win in 2022 and 2024.. All Joe Biden, the new President has to do is lead and do a half decent job and its a sure thing.:tongue::tongue:

Like I said in another thread...don't rule out Trump for now at least...that said I agree with you on the Dems...if Biden can just get a handle on the Covid-19 pandemic and thereafter jump start the economy, get businesses back and jobs returning as well...then the Dems should be alright...

As I said people only waka waka loonies get caught up in so much shit. Self explanatory
