I am still here in the UK.Watched the live telecast of the closing ceremony on the telly.Looked like a glorified pop concert with 'has been' pop icons.

exactly , just a concert, they got dancers doing things in the middle without sync with music playing in background, they can do anything, not related to music at all. then when you see close up, they all dance their own move. no coordination at all. nothing like olympic.
there are concert every month, but olympic only once 4 years.

this crappy olympic ceremony will soon be forgotten in a few days, no one will rent the dvd in a few years to watch.

Hey banana, I am typing this having just returned from that stupid closing ceremony. The brazilians did a good job to lift the entire event a wee bit. Otherwise it is just a big yawn. Bloody wet event too. Rained all the time. Stupid place, stupid weather. Only bananas kike the brits.

I am not a fan of Spice Girls, but they have aged well, not bad for a few mothers..I don't think John Lennon, if he was alive now, would not approve "Imagine" being used, especially with a choir & orchestra!!! it just suck out the spartan majesty of that song, as written in the 1970's...and they still don't get it, "Imagine" is not a peace song, a brotherhood of man song & a love song!

They should have use Paul McCartney "Live & Let Die"...maybe rights too expensive...why no Led Zep? no Deep Purple...can close the ceremony with "Smoke On The Water" with the smoke....

What i saw was the worse olympic closing ceremony ever!! bar none.

At least the Poms are consistent, it follows their worse Olympic opening ceremony ever.


It make me laugh how crappy it was, in fact the short 10-15 mins of Brazil presentation bring more Olympic style ceremony than the whole Poms ceremony.

I thought they will struggle to beat Beijing, but i did not expect them to commit suicide.

I am sure the stupid Poms will think their Olympic opening and closing ceremony are greatest ever. But i am sure 1948 one even beat this one. At least 1948 did not get tainted by pop culture.

i just returned from london after catching the women's volleyball, beach volleyball and soccer finals. it was v well organised and everyone.. the spectators.. the volunteers.. the general atmosphere was just brilliant. it was like going to a v happy party.

i thoroughly enjoyed myself. and to be there in london during this time is just awesome. u can whine all u want behind ur pc screen and in front of the tv screen. i think the brits did a fabulous job.

aren't your view bias by the fact you live in UK. If you ask any poms, they will say their olympic ceremony best ever. well, it is shit actually.

After Olympic. UK will have to struggle to pay debt for extra expenses on Olympic.
And also need to maintain some facility or tear down(paper lost 100%).
Spend about US$15b for Olympic. Half will be useless. Only half like facility eg. transport like MRT and bus will be utilize.
Half of it will be 100% lost.
Half is US$7.5b. Just the interest 5% alone US$375million/year.
So no money dont show off. Unless have too much money like China and Brazil.
India try to show off Commonwealth game in the end lost face. So many bad news.

Why so uptight about it? It's just a showcase of British songs and culture. As in all things, it works for some, doesn't work for others. Not your cup of tea, switch to another channel lah. Beijing had first-class coordination, London wanted a more British cultural feel, Rio... don't know yet. Olympics is for young people and the closing ceremony wanted a party-like atmosphere targetted at the young.

France is over-spending, UK is bankrupt. The only country in Euro that is down to earth is GERMANY.

I've friends in Italy and was told the govt is taxing them, digging up everything to tax so they're fleeing to
