中國移動集團與上海市政府3月30日共同宣布，上海成為中國第一個5G試用城市，並撥出全球第一次的5G手機通話，同時宣布「全球雙千兆第一區」在上海市虹口區開通。
據悉，中國移動、中國聯通、中國電信3家營運商都將在2019年啟動5G商用測試。
「全球雙千兆第一區」開通儀式現場，上海副市長吳清撥出全球第一個5G語音電話。根據介紹，上海市2019年將建立超過1萬個5G基地台，同時開始打造數座5G建設應用示範區和應用研發創新基地，設為5G應用示範展示廳。
中國移動通信集團上海有限公司計劃發展部總經理嚴鈞表示，第一個5G示範區選定在上海虹口區，未來不管是一般民眾或是企業都能使用「千兆以上頻寬」。
上海虹口區為全球第一個固定寬頻和行動通信網路皆達到千兆覆蓋的地區，目前5G基地台共228個。預計到2021年 上海將達到5G網路深度覆蓋的目標。
中國移動、中國聯通、中國電信3家運營商2019年均會開啟5G商業試用，預計北京、上海、廣州、深圳、天津等中國20多個一、二線城市消費者將率先體驗5G。另外，2020年中國的省會城市以及部分二、三線城市也能體驗到5G。

Opened in Hongkou District, Shanghai
At the opening ceremony of the "Global Double Gigabit First Zone", Wu Qing, the deputy mayor of Shanghai, set the world's first 5G voice call. According to the introduction, Shanghai will establish more than 10,000 5G base stations in 2019, and at the same time, it will build several 5G construction and application demonstration zones and application R&D innovation bases, and set up 5G application demonstration halls.
Yan Hao, general manager of the Planning and Development Department of China Mobile Communications Group Shanghai Co., Ltd., said that the first 5G demonstration zone was selected in Hongkou District of Shanghai. In the future, both the general public and enterprises can use "gigabit or more bandwidth."
Shanghai Hongkou District is the world's first fixed broadband and mobile communication network with Gigabit coverage. Currently, there are 228 5G base stations. It is expected that by 2021 Shanghai will reach the goal of deep coverage of 5G networks.

More than 20 Chinese 5G cities in 2020
China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom will launch 5G commercial trials in 2019. It is expected that consumers in more than 20 first- and second-tier cities in China such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Tianjin will experience 5G first. In addition, in 2020 China's provincial capital cities and some second- and third-tier cities can also experience 5G.
