In 1974 West Germany again, lost 0:1 to East Germany in the 1st Round, went on to win the World Cup, beating Holland 2:1 in the Final.

In 1978 Argentina, lost 0:1 to Italy in the 1st Round, went on to win the World Cup, also beating Holland 3:1 in the Final.
