I'm seeing 2 - 3 threads on Japanese football and trying to figure out if anyone actually saw that match against Cameroons. Truth was Japan suxed and the match was one of the worst this world cup so far. To be fair Cameroon sux too but Japan was even worse

Agree. Both teams were kicking the ball around aimlessly, obviously playing for a draw. Somehow, Japan got the lucky break, that's all.

The Royal Navy was bigger, but mostly tied up in North Atlantic and Mediterranean by Germany and Italy. It was this experience that resulted in the post-war decision to decolonise as amicably as possible. Britain hadn't enough resources to be overstretched like that.

The Royal Air Force was bigger too, but of course tied up in homeland defending against Germany (Luftwaffe) which was even bigger.

US and Japan had no air forces like RAF or Luftwaffe then. All Japanese airfighters were navy carrier-borne. All US airfighters were navy carrier-borne or army support aircrafts (USAAF). USAF was founded after World War II.

the RN maybe bigger in tonnage but many of the ships were old, even the biggest aircraft carrier are not as big as IJN fleet carrier and can only carry 50-60 aircrafts on board and the warplanes on board are a joke. The swordfish, a biplane torpedo bomber is so damn slow and the fighter, blackburn skuas top speed is less than 250mph. It only toward the end of WW
2 that the RN replace these obselete aircrafts with newer models.

by the way, there a Imperial Japan Army Air Force during WW2. here an extract from wikipedia:

Yes, outdated just like England football team since 1966.

Oh yes, thanks for the correction and reminder. Japan air-raided China from landed airfields in Japan. It must had a functional full-scale air force to be able to do that.

The Japs had the biggest aircraft carrier Shinano during WWII...

Gerrard is still OK. Green is Hand of Spill. Owen and Beckham are the museum pieces. It's so fortunate for England that both are on some kind of injuries. Owen and Beckham used to be a good midfield-forward combination. Let's see if the Gerrard-Rooney combination can better them.

the english team is not as good as most ppl think. The italian chap is not as good as ppl thought. The great argies striker Gabriel Batistuta is known to downplay Capello capabilties, as the great man is know to say, how can Capello fail when the teams he won titles with were the best money can buy. Just look into the teams he manage b4, got the best players and money. Of course he is good at making the players gel.

if dont believe, can go australia to interview Batistuta who now living permantly there.

I like how they get overhyped every freaking competition. For the last 10+ years since the Beckham era, they've been called the "Golden Generation", best chance to get the World Cup. U know what's really sad? England's Golden Generation's best performance was a regular QF appearance in contrast, period between 98 - Klinsmann era, the German teams were considered pretty bad, their worse performance were...................QF appearances. lol

Oh and everyone need to read this really funny article from TNP about England vs USA
