SINGAPORE: Three police officers were hauled to court on Wednesday for various offences.

Elvilin Tay Sheo Tang, 35, was charged with bribing five of his colleagues with S$250. He allegedly conducted an unauthorised raid with them at a forested area off Seletar Road on January 24 this year.

During the raid, Tay seized contraband cigarettes, mobile phones and a wallet containing six S$50 notes.

He tried to distribute the cash to his colleagues so they would turn a blind eye to his actions, as Tay allegedly wanted to keep the seized items. However, one of them refused to accept the money.

Tay, who is from Ang Mo Kio North Neighbourhood Police Centre, has claimed trial and will engage a counsel. If convicted of bribery, he could be jailed a maximum of five years and fined up to S$100,000 on each charge.

Meanwhile, 36—year old Nazir Ali Khan was charged with conspiring with another police officer to make a false claim at Clementi Police Divisional Headquarters in April 2008.

Nazir and 31—year old Abdul Aziz Abdul Majid allegedly tried to get hold of S$1,000, which was being kept as lost and found property there. It is believed they planned to share the money.

Abdul Aziz had allegedly attempted to cheat an administrative officer at the headquarters by claiming he was the rightful owner of the cash.

He is also accused of lying to Assistant Superintendent Roy Shafiq Aw by claiming he was a vending machine technician who had lost the money in the Ang Mo Kio area on April 1. He allegedly told ASP Aw he found out the money was at the headquarters through his friend, Nazir, who is from Bedok Police Division.

If convicted of cheating, the men could be jailed for up to 10 years each and fined.

It is time that SINGaporeans replaces the beams...the upper beams are badly rusted, that is why the lower beams are buckling, never mind crooked!!:p
