Suggest a word that was unique in 2011 that could give us mind blowing impact like this "PONDING"

"ponding" was truly sensational and best reflects the depths to which the PAP and this Govt have descended. It shows lack of integrity and more importantly desperation.

"misunderstood" is another

"taken out of context" is another regular

"confluence of factors" is not a word and it did not occur in 2011 but came out after the "independent inquiry" on Mas Selmat escape. It suggest that on the day of the escape " there was an eclipse, a flash flood which allowed him to jump on a passing sampan that and rowed himself out of the detention centre without people noticing anything in the dark.

I nominate Lim Swee Say for the award - Betterest or Bestest or whatever.

as an aside......anyone remember which year ' beholden ' belonged to?

If quotes from outside Singapore is admitted, this one takes the cake:

"We came. We saw. He died" - Hillary Clinton on the death of Gaddafi.

I still prefer _ " I don't know what to say "

follow by _ " the butler did it "

My word of the year: TIMBRE!

When a reporter asked Shanmugam whether TT would make a good president given his past association with the government,
his reply was "It depends on the TIMBRE of the man." The TIMBRE! :D

e·mer·i·tus

Retired but retaining an honorary title corresponding to that held immediately before retirement: a professor emeritus.
n. pl. e·mer·i·ti (-t)
One who is retired but retains an honorary title corresponding to that held immediately before retirement.

The word of the year is the simple 5-letter word "sorry" uttered by LHL two days before polling.

Even Andrew Loh and a few others bought it. Power or not?

The bestest is from none other than the Old Fart himself "live and repent"

It shows that once turned to desperation prior to poll date, politicians exhibits their rare talents of versatility with the uncanny ability to bend to the wind direction. But in conformity to the laws of elasticity, they will spring back straight anytime after the poll.

The other that I go for is 'a little bit', by DMP Teo in May when he hinted on the possible outcome from the ministerial pay review committee. Gosh, he really has foresight. :)

During the Presidential Election 2011, there was one word on the lips of all candidates: "independent". That word was repeated over and over again in case people did not understand or people forgot.
