SINGAPORE - The upper palette of a woman's mouth was pierced by a 3cm-long sharp object when she was chowing down her delicious carrot cake.

A reader wrote into citizen journalism website Stomp to share the shocking incident.

Sean said his wife bought a "kueh", referring to a plate of carrot cake, from a coffeeshop at Fernvale Point in Sengkang West last week.

"She had felt a sharp pain inside her mouth while eating the kueh," he said.

He said that the object was poking the upper palette of her mouth.

The object appeared to look like a pin or nail from a photograph which was sent to Stomp.

The doctor, who Sean's wife went to seek consultation from, said it would have been "disastrous" if the object had poked her throat.

The doctor gave her antibiotics to prevent the infection.

Sean said he had informed the authorities as it regards to food safety and hygiene in Singapore.

A Kueh is not a plate of Carrot Cake aka "chai tow kuey", mee siam, doesn't come with hum, but exclusively eaten it does; and we are all 'carrot cake' reading a Shit reporter write a report like that.

don't know why it's called "carrot cake" in the 1st place. Nearest meaning should be Radish cake, or am I mistaken?
