Woman jailed for taking rap <!--10 min-->

A PROPERTY agent who took the rap for another woman for beating the red lights was sentenced to three months' jail on Monday. Leung Man Kwan, 34, pleaded guilty last week to intentionally perverting the course of justice by taking the blame on bea a traffic red light signal in February last year. She is out on $10,000 bail, pending her appeal against sentence. A district court heard that Ms Tay, 21, took a Bulgarian business manager's car for a drive while he was here on Jan 22 last year even though she had no licence. As she was driving along Lornie Road, she beat the red lights and saw a flash of a camera and started panicking. She then consulted a few friends including former police officer Kelvin Choo Yew Beng, 38. Choo later asked Leung if she would take the rap for the traffic offence, and Leung agreed in return for $1,000, Leung has previous convictions for using criminal force on a public servant, disorderly behaviour, failing to give breath specimen and drink driving. She could have been jailed for up to seven years and/or fined for the offence.
