ARIZONA - She believed that her family would face hardship after President Barack Obama's re-election.
Holly Solomon, 28, who lives in Gilbert, in the US state of Arizona, was also upset that her husband did not vote in the Nov 6 election.
The couple argued, then she allegedly chased her husband, Mr Daniel Solomon, around a carpark in an SUV, television station abc15.com reported.
She finally ran over him, leaving him with critical injuries.
Mr Solomon told the police that his wife "just hated Obama", blamed him for her family's problems and was very angry that he had been re-elected.
Witnesses reported that a lot of yelling took place just before she started chasing her husband. A caller told a 911 dispatcher: "He got out of the car and she was screaming at him. And he started walking away and she started driving in circles around him and she wouldn't let him go.
"He finally took off to get away and she ran into him."
Mr Solomon reportedly took refuge behind a light pole while she drove around it many times and continued to scream at him. She eventually hit her husband and he was pinned between the vehicle and a kerb.
She was taken taken into custody for domestic violence charges of aggravated assault, reckless driving and disorderly conduct.
Mr Solomon told the police that his wife is six months pregnant.
