A 20-year-old Chilean woman is crying tears of blood, baffling doctors with her condition.
The Huffington Post reports that Yaritza Oliva started to bleed from the eyes earlier this month and may be suffering from an unusual condition called haemolacria.
Doctors were stumped by the symptoms and prescribed eye drops to ease the pain, which she said was "indescribable".
Ms Oliva continued to shed tears of blood several times a day, the Huffington Post says.
While doctors have not officially diagnosed the young woman, some think she mat have the rare condition of haemolacria.
In 2009, a teenage boy had similar symptoms, crying blood up to three times a day. Earlier this year a Canadian man began crying tears of blood as well as from other areas of his body.
Haemolacria, which was first documented in the 1970s, and is believed to be a symptom of a number of diseases as well as a possible indicator of a tumour in the lacrimal (tear-producing) gland.
It can be inflamed by bacterial conjunctivitis or environmental damage.
