Woman charged with cheating

<!-- by line --> <!-- end by line --> A WOMAN was charged on Friday with cheating another of $500 by claiming that she was pregnant and needed money for medical expenses. Ng Sock Kun, 36, who was wearing a surgical mask and had bandaged arms, allegedly cheated Ms Boh Swee Fan, 22, of the amount at the void deck of Block 51 Marine Terrace on June 3.

When the prosecution applied for her to be held in Bedok police division for a week, she requested to be remanded in hospital instead. She told District Judge Lim Tse Haw that she had injured her arms and legs and needed to change her dressing. Ng, who was arrested on Wednesday night, was remanded at Bedok for further investigation. If found guilty of cheating, she can be fined up to 10 years and fined.
