But it is an imaginary safety net. Sometimes, it is yanked away when it is needed most. Or shifted. With the ever changing minimum sum in CPF, many people looking forward to withdrawing at 55 can no longer do so. Maybe that is why they use it to bid up HDB flats, afterall, its virtually useless, but an increase in price could let them cash out.
