i put no, cos the infrastructure of this country is built around him.

1. his successor is weak.
2. people listen to him because he is in power but not his successor so when he is gone, they will break up fight for power.
3. we don't have a strong opposition to take over when he is gone, they maybe good at voicing out but they are never given a chance to run in parliment.

i would say its something like iraq, when saddam is gone, all the tribes fight for power and is in chaos until now. maybe sg is different but since history when dictator is gone, his successor will often be weak cos he wants to control everything. there will be a power fight he is gone and this is the factor which often bring the country problem.

All countries will have to evolve, in Darwinistic fashion. States rise and fall, in ancient Greece as in modern states. USA was founded on a Civil War with a long history of slavery and racial discrimination, but it survived and thrived. Today it is No. 1 Superpower. If Singapore has to evolve the violent way, it is because the seeds of violent discord and friction have been sown by our history, by circumstances, by fortuitousness, and by a bright Cambridge lawyer in the 1950's who seized the bull by the horns and captured power and then consolidated his powerbase through others' default and by his own cunning and ruthlessness. If the political situation is once again ripe, who knows if a new demagogue will not arise and trigger off reactions after reactions to set Singapore on a new evolutionary branch and bring us to new heights of political development or down the road to perdition? It's all in the stars...

For so long, people are giving him too much credit. The political will to survive is not forged by merely one person - of course, like any salesman, he would want you to believe his version of reality is the truth.

We can speculate till the cow comes home as to whether we can survive without an old man. The art of governance transcends his presence: remember it is the people who put the power in his hands, a politician needs to called a politician before he has any credibility, the same way a self-proclaimed writer is anything but a vain pompous ass.

So you get rid of the old man, and his cronies, but what about the populace? Another 66% despite the outcry? Sometimes, Sinkies deserve to get farked doubly hard. They don't learn from history, and they dun want to

The day the Old Fart dies and his Familee overthrown, Sporns would end up poorer cos they would then realize that the piggy bank is actually broken and empty.

I think the old traitor is being given too much credit... He is such a influencing salesman that he know how to brainwash Singaporeans into thinking that he is omnipotent to Singapore and without him Singapore will sink. Goh Keng Swee, Lim Kim San, Toh Chin Chye and Rajaretnam also have contributed to the huge growth in Singapore's economy in the 1960s and 1970s. Of all the old guards, I think Goh Keng Swee is the most important since he was the one who drafted the building of JTC, invite SMCs into Singapore and also introduced the evil :oIo: National Slavery.
