They are building more and more most likely imho for 3 reasons: 1. Opening floodgates for Ceca and now maybe hongkees, no reasons for tiongs to come pinoy aim is usa burmese find us way too expensive and so do the indon chinese nowadays 2. For the sg elderly enticing them to sell their current homes to move into newer ones than can do lease buyout with the govt again hdb profit 3. Maybe they are also hinting to the middle class to refresh the leases of their hdb, so called asset enhancement, as there will be much less sers or enblocs...notice nowadays 5 rm flats are no longer built with more 2 rms being built to cater to those 35 and single..

On one side SLA charges HDB the land given at market price, on the other side units sucked up by Sinkies and big Daddy covers part of it with grant to balance the equation. Too bad this year lesser peoples bought the pigeon hole hence this figure pops up. Guess more new citizens on the way to eat and digest these unsold units.

If the HDB is losing billions every year, then the logical solution would be TO STOP THE FUCK WHAT THEY ARE DOING. Is that not sensible? The taxpayer should not be footing the bill for a multi billion $ loss every year. The HDB already has more then 1.1 million flats. If the population of actual singaporeans is 3.5 million, that is less then 3.5 people per flat. Bor Kow ah? The HDB has more then enough units right now to house every single fucking sinkie in the country. And actually, the ratio should be less then 3 sinkies per flat as many sinkies live in private condos and landed properties. So, what they are saying is that the HDB is losing $1.9 billion a year to build flats for FTs? The HDB needs to get out of the flat business. If a sinkie told a total stranger that he comes from a country where the govt owns 90% of the land, and 90% of the people live in govt build and subsidized rental flats, he would think the sinkie came from some poor third world banana shit republic.

in sillycon valley, all city mayors wish they would have a federal housing program (hud doesn’t even cum close to 6.9% of hdb) to help ease the acute housing and homelessness crises facing each city today. the round table below will give you an idea on how fucked up housing and homelessness are in the bay area currently. sinkies should consider themselves lucky for having the hdb.

the problem is pubic housing is located in undesirable areas such as next to a landfill or in a former shipyard or industrial plant full of toxic chemicals and oil in the ground. county, state, and federal lands within urban and suburban environments are never in good residential locations. the worst are former naval bases with “secret” storages for spent nuclear fuel and waste, especially radiation drums tossed from docking nuclear powered subs and aircraft carriers, hunter’s point/bayview in sf for example. radiation is still there after so many decades of decommissioning. it’s exacerbated with low ses, crime-infested and poverty-stricken segments of the population moving into these projects as they are open to families receiving section-8 welfare (i.e. both state and federal govs pay up to $1.69k of monthly rent). plus they are not permanent homes. rentals only. long term rentals if families (usually broken ones) continue to receive section-8 and are not in rental arrears for over 6.9 months. and since most of the units are usually occupied with short to mid term rentals (6.9 months to 6.9 years) entire projects becum ghettos and dumps. no resident nor tenant cares and is proud of their “home” (it’s never considered a home), and everyone of them thrashes it. they can’t sell or trade it. why should anyone clean up the common corridor when someone pukes on it, defecates, or smoke joints or pump needles at the doorstep?
