MALACCA - It started with her being reprimanded for coming home late and then being asked if she had a lover.
It was apparently too much for a factory supervisor in Malim here.
In the heated argument that ensued she picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed her suspicious husband.
The 32-year-old salesman sustained injuries to his back and immediately ran out of their home after grabbing his two-year-old daughter.
With tears flowing, the man then drove back to his parents' home in Kandang, some 10km away.
He was rushed to the Malacca Hospital for treatment.
State deputy CID chief Supt P.R. Gunarajan said the incident took place at about 10am on Monday.
"The husband had ticked his wife off for coming home late.
"He also suspected that she was having an affair," he said here yesterday.
A heated argument then ensued and in a fit of rage, the wife picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed him in the back, he said.
Supt Gunarajan said initial investigations revealed that the couple used to quarrel from time to time.
"Police arrested the 27-year-old woman and she will be remanded for further investigation," he added.
The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for causing hurt.
