People of Tony Tan's background does not wait for weeks and then announce his entry. There is a reason why he entered at this late hour.

For all you know Scroobal could be higher up or a competitor of TKL in the PAP hierarchy but never managed to break into the Cabinet. It would be embarrassing for Scroobal if TKL became President and our dear Scroobal would have to kowtow to TKL in public

Oh no...GMS just made a statement about his plan to spend next few months to help TKL in his campaign. If the news materialises to be true, then his service might not be needed. Looks like he has to re-consider a contingency plan. Maybe if TKL does not qualify, then help TCB.

If, in his childishness, TKL donates more than half of his salary to charity to help the poor, his childishness makes PAP millionaire ministers look greedy and heartless, I don't want to question TKL's motivation. After all, his childishness serves a good purpose.

If, in his childishness, TKL goes for PAP's Achilles' and demands accounts on GIC, CPF and Temasek to be made public, I won't question TKL's motivation. I like his childishness as long as it serves the interest of Singaporeans. After all, didn't Ong Teng Cheong achieve HERO status after he demanded to know the country's reserves because he 'quarrelled' with LKY over the use of Istana grounds ? It was a childish move on the part of OTC, but his childishness and spitefulness serves a good purpose.

That depends on what you're looking out for in a President of Singapore. Personally, I'm not looking for a saint or someone with a respectable character. I'm not looking for a pastor. I want someone who can ask the government of the day to show us the accounts. If you think TT will ask, then of course he is a good option.

This is one situation where a spoilt vote would be ideal. No winners and slap on the face of the PAP and the old to allow his vanity to get the better of him. And as the post is basically sterile, no impact on the Singaporeans.

perhaps yr take on dr charles toh may not be totally correct bro...if ever there was an astute 'political animal' fm the medical profession...me thinks dr charles toh wld rank pretty high up on that table...a very capable administrator n clinician...however his rise in the university may hv been cut short by a possible clash wif toh chin chye...also not known to suffer fools easily n perhaps quite abrasive n somewhat like philip yeo? ...anyways now that he is a widower wld probably rule him out in any event...a more probable candidate fm the medico side wld be prof lim pin...this one lagi more astute 'political animal' than dr charles toh...but probably the most outstanding medico/administrator wld be dr andrew chew...although age may be agst him...saying that nathan is pushing 87 n apparently hving sleepless nights deciding on whether to run again...hohohohohoho!!

Lim Pin ruled out long time ago after what his son had done. The wife is a nightmare. Imagine an entire stat board wrote a petition when she was designated CEO to be . The whole lot called to auditorium and addressed by DS and warning letter issued to ring leader, bu they agreed to remove her. Anyway, old man will die first before he lets a smoker in.

Charlie has mellowed and very distinguished. Politics out of his veins. Toh Chin Chye by the way has managed to drive some of the brightest brains to private practice.

Have you seen OTC's wife in full flight in her ceremonial role - class act. Nowhere close to her normal persona. No airs, fully engaged. I was impressed. Funny Lim Pin was never approached to consider amongst the 6.

I am sure you must have heard the stories of how LHL's cancer has returned. If it is true and treatment is unsucessful, TCH will become PM. If TT takes the Presidency, power will pass to the hands of the OCBC clique. While there can be promises, there is no garantue power will be passed back as promised.

DUDE, if this scenario plays out, I am going all in on OCBC stock!!! Wahoo!!! OCBC $15, here we come!!!
