Why Uniformed & Civil Servants don't vote for Oppositions?

For many of them, they know that oppositions are doing good things for the nation, without getting much in return. Almost all have colleagues and superiors who are unfairly-favoured because of their extensive participation in RC and PA (yes, even army officers neglect their army work and bring their grassroots work to office). Many more will experience the flawed policies and extravagancy of the leadership in the course of their work.

These lower-ranked uniformed & civil servants don't get the easy life of scholars and high climbers but they usually command a respectable bonus and annual-pay raise.
The ecology made them feel unworthy about their income and bonuses, compared to their peers in corporate world for the same amount of workload. They become fearful of political changes although they experience first-hand about social problems brought by policy-failures, inequality and abuses in our society in the course of their work.

Even if Oppositions come into power (Eg. Republicans in US, Dr M in Malaysia, etc), seriously, nobody is going to sack the civil servant in ministries, soldiers in army, policemen, nurses, teachers or social workers. However, our Uniformed & Civil Servants are paid so well, that they feel that they feel guilty of their income and job security. In their hearts, many do perceive themselves as leeches, than believing that what they do, are important and indispensable to the society.

Most uniformed personnel and civil servants are paid monthly wages comparable to the private sector, they also get a more or less a guaranteed bonus of 3.5-4 months every year. Moreover, their job security is very high and they can be expected to retire in comfort as long as they don't do anything stupid. A degree farmer with mediocre performance retires as a Senior Assistant Director yielding 130-150k p.a. A diploma counterpart usually retires as a Manager or Senior Manager yielding 80-100k p.a. Uniformed groups get another 20-30% premium on top of these numbers. Financially speaking they are far better than the average Singaporean.

As a group, they are the beneficiaries of the system. Why would they vote for some unknown future given the good position they are in? To be fair to them, how many of us would vote opposition if we are in their shoes? Would you risk your 150k pay, no matter how small of a chance it is, voting form some unknown political parties who might not continue the current system?

All this talk about opposition being unfairly treated, contributing for free, social inequality, loss of jobs to foreigners, unfair preferential treatment for scholars etc. pales in comparison to the personal bread and butter issues at hand from their POV. I have never met any civil servant who feels "guilty" for being a leech. In fact many I've met are forever whining about how they could have been better paid if they are in the private sector. Some make a mountain out of molehill if they need to stay a few hours extra OT during peak periods.

If they really could, they would have left for the private sector years ago.

It's the same for the losers in the private sector who forever whine about civil servants' job security. I've got friends who spent their entire careers as engineers, lawyers or bankers with the same firm without getting retrenched. Good job security for them too.

Yea, average people will always be fantasizing how the grass is greener on the other side. The good people from both sides would already have moved and experienced it first hand very early in their careers.

PAP and the courts already said your vote is secret.

So if your boss says you are fired or given a poor work appraisal because of the way you voted, you should call the cops and blow the whistle on the lack of secrecy of your vote.

KNN of course the rest of the 70% are formed by cina babi but my uncle won't anyhow just say that brown skin is very very very scare to vote oppie as 1 of their spouse is usually a civil servant and he encountered 100% of such case from the brownie KNN
