My opinions la,
PM Lee announces changes to Cabinet
Posted: 18 May 2011 1654 hrs
Out of 14 ministries, 11 will have new ministers in charge.
Mr Lee said this will be a fresh team that will look at the future with a clean slate.
Their appointments will take effect on Saturday, May 21.
Mr Lee will have two Deputy Prime Ministers.
They are current Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Teo Chee Hean who will remain Deputy Prime Minister and will be Home Affairs Minister and Co-ordinating Minister for National Security.
Mr Teo's Defence portfolio will be taken over by current Education Minister Ng Eng Hen.
The other Deputy Prime Minister is Finance Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam who will retain his Finance portfolio and also be Manpower Minister. ( Tharman is a pro-foreigners minister, previous we expect 900k new foreigners, but with Tharman in manpower, we can expect up to 2m foreigners migrating to singapore in the next 5 years )
The new Education Minister will be newly-elected MP Mr Heng Swee Keat.
(Heng Swee Keat has been working in finance all his life, he know little about childcare, preschool, primary and secondary education. If the previous minister had know what is education, Singapore would be recruiting 500k foreigners with diploma instead of local. And the 500k degree jobs would have been taken by Singaporeans instead of foreign talents, therefore, I expect Heng Swee Keat to fare worst than Ng Eng Hen )
Newly elected Major-General Chan Chun Sing will be Acting Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports as well as Minister of State for Information, Communication and the Arts. ( In the army, he commands and the soldiers obey, but now, sport and arts are an attitude group of peoples, he cant expects the same response as in the army, he could end up offending many ahtas there)
Law and Home Affairs Minister K Shanmugam will be Minister for Law and Foreign Affairs. ( Law and foreign affair are two very different ministries, law have to be stringent and take no nonsense or jokes, whereas in foreign affairs, the trade is about connections and relationships. therefore unless Shanmugam can split his personality or he will end up contradicting both ministries )
Health Minister Khaw Boon Wan will become National Development Minister, a portfolio he volunteered for. ( We all know that any treatment for illness in our hospitals can wipe out our medisave within a month, therefore expect property prices to double. And expect Khaw to suggest buying a malaysia home instead of a HDB )
Manpower Minister Gan Kim Yong will be the Health Minister.
( Bec of bad policies, Singapore face shortages of medical professionals, with an ex-man power minister in the health ministry, we can expect foreigners in health industry to triple in the next 5 years )
Minister for Environment and Water Resources Mr Yaacob Ibrahim will head the Ministry of Information, Communication and the Arts. ( if Yaacob knows what is Art, we would have seen many artistic environment in Singapore or along our roads. and lastly, when he spoke of "once in fifty years", we are sure he can't handle information at all. )
Information, Communication and the Arts Minister Lui Tuck Yew will be Transport Minister and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs. ( Other than moving naval ships from one part of the world to the other part, I guess Lui Tuck Yew has never sat on a forty foot container truck before, let alone being a transport minister, what does he knows about traffic jams? )
Community Development, Youth and Sports Minister Vivian Balakrishnan will be the new Minister for Environment and Water Resources. ( After blowing the YOG budget by $200m, one wonders if he really knows how to save water. )
Education Minister Ng Eng Hen will be Defence Minister.
(Ng Eng Hen thinks competition with foreigners are good for local, recently he said our local primary school children welcome competition from foreign students, so we expect him to enforce foreigners to serve National Services to compete with local boys)
Mr Lim Hng Kiang will remain Trade and Industry Minister. ( Other than this, guess he knows nothing )
Mr Lim Swee Say will remain as Minister in the Prime Minister's Office. ( Guess there is no need for Zorro anywhere )
Mr S Iswaran will be promoted to Minister in Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister for Home Affairs and Trade and Industry. ( recently, he just brokerage an agreement to bring in thousands of Indian companies to Singapore. he could turn Singapore into an Indian majority country )
Senior Minister of State Ms Grace Fu for Education and National Development will become Senior Minister of State for Ministry of Information, Communication and the Arts and Ministry of Environment and Water Resources.
Minister of State, Prime Minister's Office Mr Heng Chee How will be promoted to Senior Minister of State, Prime Minister's Office.
Madam Halimah Yacob will be promoted to be the Minister of State for Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports.
Also promoted, Ms Josephine Teo who will be Minister of State for Finance and Transport.
Newly elected MPs Mr Tan Chuan Jin and Mr Lawrence Wong will be appointed Ministers of State.
Brigadier General Tan will be Minister of State for National Development and Manpower,
Mr Lawrence Wong will be Minister of State for Defence and Education, Ms Amy Khor will be Minister of State for Health.
Mr Teo Ser Luck will be Minister of State for Trade and Industry.
Minister of State for Trade and Industry and Manpower, Mr Lee Yi Shyan will be Minister of State for Trade and Industry and National Development.
Minister of State for Home Affairs and Education Mr Masagos Zulkifli will be Minister of State for Home Affairs and Foreign Affairs.
Mr Lee said Mr Tharman will be Chairman of the Monetary Authority of Singapore and Prime Minister Lee will be the Chairman of the GIC.
