This is good. Finally the leadership of your country is keen in developing homegrown sporting talents. Nice! Soccer would be a good idea too.

That movie "Kallang Roar" that I watched, left a lasting impression about how vibrant soccer in your country was just a few decades ago.

the realized that, money can not buy everything...table tennis, was a forgotten sports in schools, in community centres...table tennis tables were removed, those spoilt wasn;t replace...until now!

so go figure out on developing homegrown talents....luckily we didnt win in GOLF...

as for soccer..they killed 'the goose that laid the golden eggs'...kallang roar...is a memory...Malaysia Cup...is a memory...

We should look at the positive side of this area. Singaporeans should learn to be more self-motivated and willingness to take up the challenges in order to improve and achieve greater success in future. If we have such talents, our great PAP government will not have to welcome such talents in. You all must remember, these foreign talents will help provide great guidelines, their experience, skills and tips to improve our young local talents.

Isn't it stating the obvious, all the people in the world shd look at positive side and must learn to be self motivated ! I think it more for self gloryfication then to up our own standard !

Table tennis has brought Singapore glory in the Beijing Olympics. Our great PAP government hope we can continue to improve on this area as we can compete with the traditional powerhouse countries of China, Hong Kong and Korea in that area.

This is true, also a little known fact is that our great leader likes to play Ping Pong with his balls. By improving the overall quality of Singaporean players, Our Glorious Leader will have a easy job of finding a kaki to play Ping Pong with his balls. He especially likes it when someone smashes them with the paddle. No pain no gain.

The extremes you'll go to polish, suck and lick your master's balls never fails to amaze me! Good Work!

Just remember to floss between meals

What happened to playing sports for enjoyment instead of for the good of the country?

Hmm, yeah you've got a point there actually. People in Asian countries do things differently. When they go into sports its either to compete (even the schools in your country do that all the time) or for the fame, the money, and the glory.

The phrase "simple pleasures of life" is anathema to most of them.
