A STOMPer was having his lunch this afternoon when he was approached by a monk who asked him for donations in a foreign language. He wonders if this is allowed in hawker centres.

Said the STOMPer:

"This afternoon while I was eating my lunch at the food court at Yung Sheng Road near Jurong, I was approached by a monk dressed in saffron robes.

"He had a wooden bowl and gestured at me to donate some money.

"He spoke the Thai language. which I could barely understand

"I wonder if foreign monks are allowed to beg in our hawker centres.

"I hope NEA will put a stop to this practice in some of our hawker centres."
