In Singapore context, boycotting elections by voters is not a simple matter of voiding the ballot papers, for that is only taken to mean that voters can't decide between the contesting candidates, not to mean boycotting the election as voters actually complied with the requirement and showed up at the polling stations. Boycotting the elections at voters' level is even "simpler": don't go to the polls and wait for police summons for failure to comply with compulsory voting.
Opposition boycotting the GE will give the PAP clear advantage. Period.
