If they didn't do anything wrong, why would they need to be so scared? Either they are guilty, or something is really wrong with them.

He's Czech, his whole family escaped when there was still the iron curtain. Even though he's now living in Canada, he still very careful of what/how he says.

I see. Thank you for sharing his tale. Well, the plus side would be that because of his extra prudence with his words and actions he makes less adversaries and get to enjoy some kind of a longevity?

But anyhow I still think he should let go a little. This world is unpredictable anyway, and the people (I mean the men on the ground) who keep guarding and guarding, are usually the same ones who get attacked and attacked all the same or even more, and ironically are also the same ones who get hit first compared to those who are more liberal (though not totally) in their defenses.

Not a great way to live a life really. I should think they have mental issues too, like that guy I heard who attacked one of your local politicians who heavily padlocked the door to his house.

Got that idea from a motivational book I read so many years ago. The writer said something like "people normally defend when they are being attacked" or something like that, and that the more you defend the more you'll get attacked.

He can't "let go" lah.

Although he spent many years in Canada, his new home, think it'll take many years before he'll let his guard down. The nice thing about Canada is that there's more room to be individualistic. So even if he never adjusts to his new home, he'll do fine.

Unfortunately the same is not true in Spore

Many older Sporeans have been repeatedly disappointed by the PAPs promises. You'll see many who have broken down; talking to themselves, going around playing with fire.

Must say LKY has failed to create a 'home', just a place to 'work'. Look at all the people who are leaving or planning to leave. There is so many things wrong in Spore that the young, the old, male & female want to leave.
