SINGAPORE: After nearly two decades of having a Community Club located at a void deck, residents in the Keat Hong division of Chua Chu Kang GRC will get a full range of facilities in new premises.
To be completed by 2015, the new CC located opposite Lot 1 Shoppers' Mall will have programmes to promote inter-generational participation and social bonding in the community.
Plans for the proposed CC will be unveiled on Saturday at the launch of the five-year renewal plan for the current Hong Kah town.
Member of Parliament Mr Zaqy Mohamad, the adviser to Hong Kah GRC grassroots organisations, said he was "glad that we've finally initiated this project".
"The grassroots and the community are working hard to raise funds for the CC," said Mr Zaqy.
"We'll focus on promoting more inter-generational bonding and are also heartened with National Arts Council's involvement to bring more arts programmes to the heartlands through our CC."
Residents can give feedback on programmes and facilities they hope to see at the CC through www.keathong.sg.
