which is better ? ntuc ? shop N save ? sheng shiong ? wet market ?

Not all the wet stall owners are like what you say: Making a lot of profit which they do not declare for taxes.

There are such wet stall owners who pick this trade up as they have done all their life, simply because they have no other jobs to fall back to, based on their society status and education level.

It is not easy to say "OK, business is bad, I will pack up and stop being a wet stall owner." Some of these wet stall owners don't make profits, but just earn enough to make ends meet.

Just like some white-collared workers who always complain that their wages don't seem to increase on par with inflation rate, but do you see them quitting their jobs on a whim and immediately hop to another better-paying job?

Sometimes, it is not so easy to make such decisions in life. Some decisions in life are not ours to make.

There are always those who complain about the government. And there are always those who say "Unhappy? Migrate la! F*** off and don't come back la! Complain so much!"

But think again: Is it REALLY that easy to just put down everything and migrate to another country?

Sometimes, it is easier to complain about things. Afterall, complaints are just words which you can conveniently ignore and move on, since it shouldn't bother you much.

where's meiya? Meijiya?

liang court ..if you want to buy jp ingredients or food . best selection in singapore .

Haven't been to Liang Court in ages.

Have you been to the Japanese supermarket in Shaw Centre, the one below Isetan.

How does it compare to the one in Liang Court

I miss the good old days of Yaohan and Daimaru. I think that Meidiya is meant to replace Daimaru, though I've never been there before there. Isetan is good for meat produce, but more expensive than Daimaru, especially so for Japanese food. Cold Storage Takashimaya and NTUC FairPrice Junction 8 have lots of Japanese food too, obviously to plug the demand left behind by Yaohan and Daimaru Junction 8.

I'm surprised so far in this thread, nobody mentions Carrefour and Giant yet.

u want fresh fish, u go 2 ze c-side ...
u want fresh meat, u go 2 ze abbatoir ...

u want fresh fruits, u go 2 orchard ...

u want fresh chicken, u go 2 geyland ...

And where is Geyland? Gayland?

Personally, I like Sheng Shiong followed by Giant, then wet market. NTUC is my least favourite option.

My wife on the other hand likes NTUC because of their house brand toiet roll. Very difficult to tear while in use.:D:D

For me, worst is GIANT. So many young staff looking busy but give poor service - ask them where you can find an item and they point here and point there. The other day, one said she was new and ran away!

Queue at the counter is forever slow and long - things advertised as cheap but difficult to find when you get there - sometimes like a teenager's room - all messy and disorganised!

Cold Storage is for angmoha and SPGa, and wannabes. All neatly arranged, nice looking, smell fresh and pleasant but provision is expensive.

Sheng Shiong like is like a typical Malaysian wet supermarket - staff like Malaysian - looked a bit dirty and disorganised but cheap and good especially for vegetables, fish and meat. And always got lucky draws!

Cold Storage is McDonald and Sheng Shiong is kopitiam.
