which do you prefer ? or wet market ?

I'm just a shopper, i dont care about jobs for hawkers, I only care about cheap and fresh foods, and good services from the seller.

those wet markets sellers always claimed that business are bad, and rental are high, if that is the case, why are they still selling ? are they doing a charity ??
most stalls owner are making a lot of profit (of course they dont declare), but we can see them driving big cars, or can see them spending so much mony on the 7th months.

i stayed in north area and my in law stay near Khatib (yishun south), those of you familiar with this place will know that there is ntuc, shen shiong, shop N save, and wet markets around this estate. for us, we definitely prefer shen shiong. they have only operate in yishun south for 1 year, and we enjoy shopping at shen shiong very much. just a personal opinion :

sheng shiong : cheap, fresh, good service from the staffs (however, most are malaysian)
ntuc : slighly more expensive than shen shiong, the staffs (mostly local aunties) are not as service oriented as shen shiong.
shop and save : cheap but not as fresh as shen shiong

wet market : only operate in morning, dont know cheap or not, price.. is depend on how much you trust the hawkers

what do you think ?

u want fresh fish, u go 2 ze c-side ...
u want fresh meat, u go 2 ze abbatoir ...

u want fresh fruits, u go 2 orchard ...

u want fresh chicken, u go 2 geyland ...

Personally, I like Sheng Shiong followed by Giant, then wet market. NTUC is my least favourite option.

My wife on the other hand likes NTUC because of their house brand toiet roll. Very difficult to tear while in use.:D:D

I have not much choice as I don't drive. My neighbourhood only has a wet markert and an NTUC FairPrice. Anyway, so far so good.

To me it's a matter of practical convenience, regardless of whether u drive or not. The one, be it NTUC Shop & Save Giant etc nearest to where u live is the best. But for freshness and variety, Cold Storage is the best. I don't believe that NTUC Sheng Siong or Shop & Save is always the cheapest. Sometimes their prices are the same or comparable to Cold Storage. :D

When buying raw, chilled or frozen food, or ice cream, the one that happens to be nearest is of course the best. The time taken to reach home fridge is very important to preserve freshness. It's not much use buying the freshest produce far away, then take bus for an hour to reach home. Most of freshness would be lost and ice cream melted.

Talking about freshness, you really must visit Sheng Shiong. I cook so I take care of the buying, Sheng Shiong so far gives the freshest produce when come to vegetables, meat and seafood.

....Some times you will find treasure in the most common location.

As for Cold Storage, its strength is into materials for western delicacies. I will go there should I prepare for material for picnic such as ham, salads, etc.

Bro .... agree. Of all the prc sluts at geylang, there will always be a gem ...:p

I have never like ntuc. Ntuc always seem to be everywhere. Its unfair biz practise. I mean... did the town council "invited" ntuc to open shop? While seng siong, shop n save cold storage got to bid for it. But my wife like to go ntuc cos ntuc give out points.

And i agree that seng siong, shop n save or ntuc might not sell the cheapest things around.
!&!!

sheng shiong used to be one of the cheapest to build their reputation...now some of their items are more expensive than others...u wun notice it coz they've fucked ur mind to believe they are the cheapest...
