A woman in her fifties using a wheelchair reportedly fell into Lower Seletar Reservoiron Saturday (22 Mar 2025) and later passed away in hospital.

The accident happened around noon at Lower Seletar Reservoir.

He later learned from nearby staff that someone had fallen into the water.

“When I walked over, I saw a wheelchair on the grassy slope and a worker wearing a life jacket who prevented onlookers from getting close.”

Large Police Presence at the Scene

Photos provided by Mr. Wei showed many police officers investigating along the shore with cordons set up and a dark-colored wheelchair parked nearby.

Mr Wei said the person who fell into the water was reportedly a middle-aged woman with a slightly plump build.

“I heard that someone saw her passing by one second, and surprisingly, she disappeared the next second.”

When reporters arrived at around 4:00 PM, the scene had been cleared with no police officers present. Several residents were fishing and exercising in the area.

No Criminal Elements Found

A male resident who wished to be anonymous said that when he arrived in the area to fish at around 1:00 PM, he saw police cars and fire engines parked by the roadside.

The jetty platform extending from the park to the reservoir was cordoned off with multiple police officers investigating, so he had to fish elsewhere.

“I saw someone lying on a stretcher being loaded into an ambulance. Several police officers were investigating along the shore, but I didn’t know exactly what happened. At around 3:00 PM, I saw them place a life buoy on the shore before leaving the scene.”

The police stated that they received a report at 11:55 AM on Saturday about a female found floating in the water at the mentioned location.

The 55-year-old woman was later pulled ashore and sent to the hospital unconscious, where she was pronounced dead.

According to preliminary investigations, the case does not involve any criminal elements.

Investigations are still ongoing.

Sad What will happen to that orphaned wheelchair now?

Do not rejoice in the misery of others. I have an acquaintance who lost his job and wife, and now curses all his acquaintances whom he believes are better off than him.
