What's so appealing about Anglo countries?

Surely it can't just be the English language? I always hear countries like New Zealand, Canada, Australia being mentioned here. What about Europe? Japan?

Western philosophy and civilization, temperate climates, free press, affordable housing and transport, quality education, vibrant arts, right to arms (+/- depending on your perspective, I think it's +++), no conscription, social safety nets, political change.

I think those are main points.
