2月14日,据最新发表的国内公开资料披露,我国军方正在进行新型磁化等离子火炮实验和测试系统的招标工作,这是继我军研发成功海军大口径电磁轨道炮(railgun)和陆军小口径电热化学炮(Electrothermal-chemical ,ETC)之后,又一公开亮相的新概念火炮(这一系列新概念火炮开创了人类火炮技术继火药发射前装炮技术、后膛装填线膛炮技术、制退复进技术之后的第三次革命)。由于磁化等离子火炮技术属于我国独创,其具体细节还处于保密状态,军事观察家根据国内发表的极少数公开资料,对此技术做一简单推测。纵观世界常规武器的发展史,现代火药的发明及其在武器上的应用,在本质上改变了战场的局面,并对世界格局产生了重大影响。经过长达百余年的发展,化学能武器已在常规武器中占据了统治地位。随着现代科技和武器工业的发展,化学能武器的初速和射程越来越高。然而根据弹药内弹道理论可以得知, 发射药燃气的极限速度和火炮的热效率决定了炮口弹丸的初速。

目前来看,包括电源系统的整套电磁轨道炮装置体积极其庞大,而且价格昂贵,海军大型舰艇上或许能够装备,但很难在体积较小的陆军机动装甲目标上大规模普及,因此人们又同时在研制电热化学炮系统。该火炮以电弧放电生成等离子体的形式将电能释放到炮膛内, 同时引燃火炮装药;火药则以化学工质燃烧的形式释放热能,电能和热能共同作用使膛内气体极速膨胀,从而推动弹丸高速运动。输入的电能相当于提高了火药工质的含能密度,增加了对弹丸作功的能力,从而提高了弹药发射初速。然而人们在火炮实验中发现,电能和化学能很难做到互补,如果大幅增强电能,其体积比电磁轨道炮小不了多少;通过多次等离子体放电点火来增强火药燃烧效应也只能小幅提高炮口初速,并且存在很大的技术困难,目前电热化学炮的发展前景比较暗淡。
但在对电热化学炮的实验研究中,人们意外的发现,如果在火炮金属身管外加一磁场,火炮发射时产生的部分等离子体会被磁化,火炮身管的热烧蚀现象竟然会减少,并且随着磁场强度的增加,产生的热烧蚀也会越少,发射速度也有所增加。这种现象引起了我国科研人员的极大兴趣,经仔细研究原因后受此启发提出了磁化等离子体火炮构想。在火炮身管内添加高磁性材料或外置磁场发生器,从而使火炮发射时在身管内壁形成磁化等离子体鞘层,该磁化等离子体鞘层可对火炮产生如下作用:1、使火炮身管的吸热量大大降低,从而减少身管的热烧蚀;2、降低发射时火炮身管所受的径向力,延长身管寿命,并能够使身管适当的减小壁厚,增强机动性;3、增加发射时火药气体对弹丸的推力,由于火炮身管的吸热量的减少,火药气体的热损失较少,从而向外的做功增加。

其实在2018年9月11日国内发布的一篇技术专利中,对“磁化等离子体火炮”的原理做出了解释。这是在常规化学能火炮上,沿着炮管设置磁场,磁场方向沿着身管轴线方向指向炮口,磁场强度按一定规律衰减分布。当火炮发射时,在磁场的作用下,身管内的气体能够电离成等离子体,在内壁上形成等离子体鞘层。
